i have chihuahuas now and i am thinking about adding a basset to the family. does anyone know the weight range for full grown basset hounds?

i should have woeded the question better but my dad had just brought home 2 basset puppies from a home that was trying to get rid of them fast.... i was wondering the weight because i want to keep one.... are there temperments generally good??? i have chihuahuas and a pitbull lab cross

It is hard to know the correct weight of a basset hound because the earth's gravity doesn't entirely effect the basset hound like it does with other dogs. If you weigh the basset hound and then weigh another dog of the same size, you will see that the basset hound weighs only half of what the other dog weighs. The only way to get the correct weight on the basset hound would be to weigh it on Jupiter.

Males are 50-65 pounds females 45-60 pounds. They are alot heavier than chihuahuas why not get a miniture daschund?

Females range from 45-55 lbs and males from 50-65 lbs usually.

They say 50 to 60 pounds, but I knew one at the shelter I worked at who was at least 90. They are strong, and their weight is low to the ground, so if not trained, they can be tough to walk!
