Basically the in-flight treatment has a difference. So if you are flying within country, for a couple of hours and only with hand baggage use low cost airlines, else plan your travel using a decent airline whose cost is lower.

Most no frills airlines have very poor customer service. You can tell by the way they treat you and your baggage. These airlines are soon going to disappear. No one whats to be treated with disrespect. Find the lowest cost airline and you found one that is no making money and doesn't have the manpower to meet any customer service needs. They may try, but it won't be too good. Find an airline with a price in the middle range. They will treat you right and meet any need you have(within reason). They should get you to your destination with a smile.

Low cost and No frills airlines are the same. Their fares are lower than the full-service carriers. The low cost or no frills carriers have limited baggage allowance and do not provide any service on board. Beverages/Snacks are charged when they are supplied on board by the low cost carriers.

Actually, all the difference arises in the in flight services they offer. So, as long as you are bothered about travelling from point A to point B, there is no major difference in time taken. But the difference arises in the comfort level of the seats, the food served and the type of aircraft used. That's it.

As far as gate to gate service, they both get you to your destination. Everything in the middle would determine the rest. what does it matter... If you wan't a 4 course meal onboard bring it with you...
