i have a 99 saturn sl and it wont shift into gear?

Well it could be low on trans fluid. Or the shift cable is broken.
You could have burned out the trans .
Pull out the trans dip stick and look at the color. Is it red? Does it smell burned? If so it is shot.

You didn't mention if it is a automatic or manual. If its a auto you may have shift linkage problem. If its a stick it could be the slave cylinder or the clutch itself.
