Do you think celebrities should?

Question

have to wait like everyone else for a child? Im really horrified lately at the lack of respect these stars are giving american children. What does that tell the children here in our orphanges ? They aren't good enough?

Maybe instead of adopting other countries kids they could fund birth control clinics and education for young girls and adopt the kids here that need a home.

Bottoms I've thinking about this myself. What's wrong with adopting American babies. Why go thousand of miles across the world the adopt babies when there are a lot of precious babies right here in the good ole' USA. What's this with the White Americans celebs adopting foreign babies of other ethnic. I mean adopt the baby you want but, are they trying to make some kind of statement. GO FIGURE!!!!

Bottom line, I believe that celebrities who adopt children from "other" countries believe that in doing this they are saving the world. Some folks donate money, some donate time, and yes, some adopt children --- how about all of the non-celebrity americans who adopt children from asian countries (esp. after the Vietnam War). BUT it remains a sad fact that America does have many children available for adoption and they are overseen by people looking to adopt....who knows why, maybe because it is too difficult to adopt in the US, maybe it is the fear that birth parents could find then easier within the same country.

I think there are plenty of celebrities in this country who do adopt within the USA. (ex. Rosie O'Donnell) We just don't hear a lot about it. The media seems to latch on foreign adoptions because it is what they deem as "news worthy". Don't get me wrong, I think it is wonderful these stars want to give children from third world countries a better life but I agree with you, more needs to be done. Celebrities have better uses for their clout than speeding up an adoption process. By eliminating the "red tape", real help (with education, health issues, agriculture, economic) can be brought to these nations. Help them help themselves, so to speak.

It does tick me off seeing these self righteous stars go out and try to save other countries, what is the matter with solving the problem in their own countries. In the USA there are a lot of children that could use a good home, or neighborhoods that can use a little money for a face lift. Let us help the people in our own back yard. Thank you. It cost alot of money to adopt a child from a foreign country.If Madonna or Angelina Jolie choose to adopt from another country,who are we to judge.Some people don't want to physically bear children.

You go girl!!! I've often wondered that myself. Why adopt from another country and risk bringing unknown diseases here among other things. I think they like to try to play God or something.

there are a lot of kids that need a home. its also good that they are adopting from other countries. it helps those kids. helping is helping and that is still doing something good.
