BECAUSE THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT....THEIR PARENTS DON'T HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE AND THEY FEAR NO ONE.

Kids are disrecpectful mostly because so many parents work a lot and most kids are being raised by daycares. Unfortunantly kids learn that bad attention is better than no attention at all. Kids now days don't have the respect for adults that we had when we were young. I would never have thought to spit or hit at a teacher in my day, but as a teacher myself I see more than my fair share of disrespect. So many parents feel guilty for not spending enough quality time w/ their children so they allow their kids to be disrespectful, and this is the way most kids think they are allowed to act towards everyone.

the kids disprespect their teachers so much because of lack of discipline at home that happens now-a-days. many parents do not discipline their children enough nor teach them right from wrong and so forth,as well as the television. many kids watch TV shows like South Park where there is a lot of disrespectfulness happening therefore the media plays an important role in how we bring our kids up! or other kids may have not been taught the least amount of decency by their parents, have therir parents giving them a little bit too much freedom which translates into trouble from an early age. another reason is that they can get away with it and they know it! the kids are not brought up to the high standards that they once were brought up to be by their parents, have more freedom as well a examples such as TV shows that they can use to their advantage.

Having tried to teach for a time in a local high school, the conclusion I came to is that they're not taught any better at home. Without going into detail, a lot of kids come from homes where the parents demonstrate no respect for anything, even for each other, and tolerate disrespect out of their kids. It's simply a matter of the kids bringing that practice into the classroom.

Because parents no longer hold their children accountable for their bad behavior. It's always the school's fault or the teacher's fault. And, control and discipline have been taken away from the schools and teachers. When I was in elementary school I got licks for fighting on the bus and in Jr High I got licks for cussing at an administrator. Those were the rules then (the 70's). I was not a bad kid, just did some stupid things. Back then (I graduated in 82), a student would get suspended to expelled for some of the things kids do now and get away with. I and my husband are raising our kids the way we were raised, if you get in trouble at school, you get in double trouble at home. Our kids are pretty good in school, no trouble yet.

I think it's mainly because women are more out there, in the work place. I'm not saying that women should stay at home and raise the kids while the husband is out working. But, now that the mother and father both work, children are hardly raised by their own parents anymore. They're either raised by grandparents, or babysitters and don't develop a close relationship with their mom and dad. Since parents are the main authority figure in a child's life, and if they don't respect them, it is very unlikely that they will respect their teachers.

I'm only 14 years old, but my dad was a substitute teacher because he liked teaching sooo much. I'm in high school, and I think you should just not be too strict and follow only "by the book" because that just makes the students feel really stupid. If you have a very easy class, you're very lucky. usually, the class is wild when a substitute teaches, but if you get mad and raise your voice, the students get louder and raise their voices. The test to BE a sub is really easy, at least thats what my dad said, but others think it is really hard. It isn't hard to sub for a class that you never liked, so if you say that you are open to all classes, the teachers like that and the really want to use you. Thats just what I know...

Two reasons....
#1 Parents aren't doing their job teaching kids respect for others and/or just don't give a damn themselves.

#2 Little or no discipline both at home or in the schools. Any one today who believes that expelling a kid from school as a use of discipline needs their heads examined. Kids love that idea so they can lay around the house watching TV or playing their games or BSing with others on the net.

Bring back the respect tools of yester-years and use the paddle or slippers on the lil darlings rumpus and start teaching them to respect others at home and give the teachers back the old corporal punishment and plug your ears parents..... then and only then are you going to start noticing respect in or from your kids. My kids respect me today and my grandkids know they better show respect when they're in my presents and there is no and/or about it either as long as I can swing my hands.

They know that they can get away with it. The school will only suspend them or send a letter home. The schools are afraid of being sued. It starts with the parents, now a days parents do not teach their children respect and manners. They are also not around to keep track of what they do. Most kids today need a good kick in the a**

It all starts at home. When our kids went to school, they got into trouble there, they knew they were in trouble when they got home. The teachers have had the ability to discipline taken away. Many cases so have parents. Many parents don't want to be bother either. The big losers in this game, the children. Childhood is short & they inevitably will become teenagers & young adults. Then society bears their teeth & take their revenge. Detention centres, boot camp & jail is the answer then. Poor Kids !

I can answer this very easily, because I am a teacher. When they took spanking and prayer out of our school systems, kids became wise and, are no longer scared of ANY consequences. Parents now days also play a big factor. It use to be; you got into trouble at school and the principal punished you for it, you got it five times harder at home. Now many parents(NOT ALL) totally come to their kids aid and turn the blame around on the school. I know one thing after eight years of all this bull s*** I will say I am outta here, after this year.
