When hes not around I do such a good job but as soon as I see him I start dropping things and being a cluts and not thinking right and not listening right. I dont have a crush on him thats for sure, he just is a bully looking kind of guy and he really intimidates me! What should I do to get over this fear of him and show him I do my job well!! Thanks everyone!!

when your boss is around .. make believe that you are giant. if there is any contact with your boss lookat him or her in the eye. remember that they areover you but not over your thoughts. If there is clumsiness in you when he or she is around you are creating that yourself. You need to behave as if you have known them forever. You are not afraid to stand up to your mom or dad or siblings? Why would you put up with a bully? Just walk around and walk straight like you lack nothing in life. You also hhave a right to hapiness in life. You are special in life and deserve the best like any human. people act that mean against us because they are in fear all cruelty is derived from weakness.

There really are bosses like that, and it has to do with leadership styles. As the leader, he actually should have reached out to you and tried to make you feel comfortable, after all, it is for his own good if you do good in your job. But, as we say, we can't change others, we can only change ourselves, here's what you could try.... you could try visualization. I recently attended a seminar by Jack Canfield (co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul) and he also advocates visualization.

"Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want," he said. His example: Do you notice how, if he tells a child 'don't slam the door" he keeps doing it? But try saying, 'close the door gently' and see what happens. He also gave examples how athletes had used visualization, and got similar or better results with those who did actual practice.

In your case, imagine instances when you are doing your usual work, and your boss comes around and talks to you -- how do you want yourself to respond? how do you want to show how good you perform your work?

It takes about 17 days to form a habit, so perhaps every night, before you go to bed, think of a scenario -- the scenario you would like the next time he walks around, and live it!

Good luck!

Inside every bully is a huge teddy bear that they don't want people to know about.

Look at him that way and I'll bet you'll find little clues to the real person, not the bully. If you really see a bully, you have 2 choices - learn to work with it or look for another position.

To work with a person like this you need to let any bully stuff "go in one ear and out the other" or "go in one eye and out the other".

Stay in constant contact with your friends at work. Find people you can talk to and that you trust. Stay close to them. Do your job that you are supposed to do. If worse comes to worse, then just quit. NO job is worth any kind of crap that drains your spirit and joy of life. Strive to always be happy at whatever you do. Also, find friends and only friends that support you and your goals. There are lots of liars and jerks in this world. Stay completely away from these people. Life is for living and enjoying. Hope this helps.

Ask him to take a few moments with you and explain your situation. Let him know you are asking for his assistance so that you can do a better job.

If he is unwilling to help you with this, he's not much of a manager or boss.

i know exactly how you feel. i always get real nervous around my boss too. i know what my job is, but for some reason when she comes around i always get real nervous and jumpy. not sure if there is much you can do other than to just tell yourself that he is just another normal person just like you are.

my boss likes to pick on people, it's a power trip for him. He is a paranoid, possessive, money hungry, know it all little jerk. But he is weak, and stupid. So, I make him look stupid in front of everyone and i have little ways of letting him know he can't
bullsh!t me. so, now he fears me and keeps his distance.

Its an old formula but when you look at him you have to imagine him naked; wrinkles, pot belly and all. Its hard to be intimidated when you do that.
