Normally the beep-beep signals a low/flat (usually 9volt PP3/1604) standby battery. If you have removed the low battery there is now not one there, so it's still warning you to fit a new one. The mains will be powering it until you do so. but if you get a power cut and there is no battery, you will have no alarm.

If you've already replaced the battery and that didn't work, then the beeping means the smoke detector needs to be replaced. I think you're supposed to replace your smoke detector every 5 or 10 years. I think it's due to the fact that they use a very small amount of radioactive material in the sensor.

if it is a battery operated smoke alarm then this constant beeping is a warning battery is running low
if it is an electric with battery back up there is a fault in the system and needs a specialist to check so get in touch with landlord or installation team
a final note it is illegal to tamper with fire safety equpment

sounds like a bad battery. They need replacing every few years. Buy a new 12v battery, see if that helps

Sounds like a bad battery

If that doesn't work - replace it don't try to fix. It's too important for it to go wrong
