Want to put snows on my GT? Should I go 2 or 4 (snow tires) and I can get 205 55 R16. My tires are 225 55 R16. Which tires have a higher profile? There is not a lot of room between tires and wheelwells but my 225's are low so would not want any lower profile than I have now. Doesn't seem like much rubber between me and the road

Never put only 2 winter tires on a car. You will get some handlng surprises when your rear end slides out while your front end is turning. Always install 4, or you will be more dangerous than if you stuck with all-season tires. Mind you, if you have touring tires, you won't get out of the driveway safely! A narrower winter tire puts more pressure per square inch on the road, and gets better bad-weather traction. 55 is your profile. 205s will be better in icy conditions, and 195s will be better yet.

205 and 225 is the tire width description and has nothing to do with profile hight!
