I will be using it strickly for a cargo hauler ( those basket/platform that attaches to it )

If it is one of those hitches that simply attache to the rear bumper, NO! They will pull your bumper off. You need one that will attach to the intended point where BMW designated a hitch should be attached to.

Also, load everything heavy onto the front of the trailer. You want the trailer to push the bumper down, not pull it up. This keeps you from careening out of control should you hit a bump or swerve.

Be carefull.Our friends used one to move with and they blew the transmission.
