I am a nuclear engineer and have worked in the field for years along side several physicists that created nuclear weapons for our nation including one (really old one) that actually worked on fat man and little boy.

We have been discussing this issue at great length and have come to the following conclusions:

1. A blast strength of less than 1/2 kiloton although theoretically possible would be extremely difficult to obtain even by mistake due to the required minimum mass of fissile material required to create a hyper-critical reaction (detonation) and would require the use of extremely exotic man made fissile elements. This is not the stuff that you can just pull out of a light water reactor. This stuff is extremely difficult to produce. Uranium or Plutonium in low quantities can create a super-critical chain reaction but it will not create the almost instantaneous chain reaction required for detonation.

2. All underground testing facilities have ventilation equipment. For there to be no radiological particles in the air near the site after a legitimate test, all ventilation and access shafts would have to have been permanently sealed prior to the test.

So it is theoretically possible that they did conduct a test, but it is highly unlikely.

I'm no fan of the Bushwanker but I wouldn't hang this one on him unless there IS evidence of radio-activity and it is being covered up because they can't do anything about it.

When North Korea announced that they were going to test, I wondered what quantity of conventional explosives it would take to simulate a nuclear test. This dictator is an attention craving lunatic and I am not surprised that he would have faked a nuke test.

I love it when people say Bush lied or Bush is a moron. Let me ask you a question. If Bush is such an idiot and moron, why would any of you "smart liberals" fall for any of his stuff? How can he be a mastermind one minute and a total idiot the next? Could it be that you are a fool and obviously easily manipulated?

Yeah When did Bush say that they did test a device?

The fact that they Claim to is enough for sanctions.

Get a life!

Ummm...I am not a nuclear scientist or anything, but if it was conducted deep underground, would there be any in the air??????

And, by the way, I am NOT a Bush fan....

Buddy, it sounds like you're misinformed. Pick up a news paper and actually read the news and not just the comics.

I don't know what I could possibly add to these responses except to say that you need to go back to sleep.

Oh, yes, most definitely - George MADE Kimmie say he'd done it when he really hadn't!

Don't worry - I told my mommy and she said she's going to tell George's mommy and he's going to really get it this time!
