I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and did not have to have one. They made me try to save everything so they could determine if I got rid of everything on my own. I also got preg again the next month and have a healthy 3 month old. Good Luck!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been there, too, and how very sad for you. Your doctor will probably do a sonogram just to be sure everything passed. If anything was left behind you'd need a D&C to clear out your uterus. Otherwise you would end up with a major infection. I had 3 miscarriages trying to have my last child and needed a D&C with 2 of them (13 & 16 weeks.) However, the miscarriage I had at 6 weeks passed everything. Talk to your doctor, get the facts for your personal situation.

A couple years ago I miscarried in the first 4-5 weeks and I did not have to have a D&C. I was told that it happened so soon that my body naturally cleansed itself. I would see a doctor and make sure everything is ok, there is no way of knowing without being examined if you would need to.

during my first pregnancy i m/c around 5 or 6 weeks, and the doctor asked if i wanted a D&C. they do this to be sure that everything is removed so bacteria wont build up. i didnt do the D&C instead i just let everything happen the way mother nature attended it to be, i bled for about two weeks but everything turned out to be just fine. and a little over a year later im now 10.5 weeks pregnant.
im sorry about your loss and hope that you get blessed with a healthy baby soon : )

I had a miscarriage at 6 1/2 weeks in my first pregnancy. I didn't have to get one. However, I believe the doctor tending to you is the best to answer that, even if you hadn't gone to one to confirm the pregnancy.

No, being that early the only reason you would need a D&C is if when you go in for a follow-up visit if the doctor still sees something in the Uterus they may instruct you to get one. Other than that... NO!

First of all a D&C is not like an actual operation where they cut you open. They take a hollow tube and basically vacuum out the uterus of all matter.
