Better than most. Taxes are high, and you have to find the right neighborhood. Development is making it a better place to live. Jobs are plentiful, and aside for the taxes, the cost of living is pretty low. Don't expect your relatives to visit cuz, like other people said, there ain't much to do here, especially if you are moving from a bigger city. If Omaha is a move up, you'll love it.

I would live on the outskirts of town - West (Elkhorn), Southwest (Gretna, Millard), or South (Papillion, LaVista).

Good things coming on the horizon - Cabella's and Indoor Water Park Hotels

Positives - zoo, trail system, most schools, cost of living, jobs

Negatives - taxes, weather, Iowa stealing all of our money with across the river gambling

There is a movie starring Jack Nicholson called "About Schmidt" and he lives in Omaha. It is not a very flattering film. But if you want routine and a practical way of life, and you can accept cold weather, Omaha might be for you. I was born in Omaha and lived there briefly as a boy in 1979-80. School was strict back then, but probably less now. For all the boredom some people associate with Omaha, I personally associate it with strong family values.

Omaha sucks! Taxes are high and there is absolutely nothing to do there except watch Cornhuskers football.

No big city is good to raise a fam. Look to the suburbs or rural areas.
