actually, yes you can. 0.5% of women get pregnant within the first year of having their tubes tied. truth is, the mirena IUD, identified on this chart http://www.knowmycycle.com/contraceptive-effectiveness.aspx as LNg20, is more effective than female sterilization with only 0.1% of women getting pregnant the first year of use. its also reversible, should you decide later that you want another baby. say, god forbid, you get a divorce and want a baby with your next husband. Its also a very safe form of contraceptive, the MOST effective and safe on the market. it can also shorten and lighten periods, which is nice. Good luck, hope this helps! PS, contrary to what some people think, IUDs are not implanted surgically. its a quick, in-office, and nearly painless procedure. heck, we are women. menstrual cramps are worse than 1 minute of being uncomfortable. i have a Mirena, and i LOVE IT! knowing that i dont have all the risks to worry about like i would if i were on the pill or something else, really takes a weight off, and we should all be able to enjoy sex without that little voice in the back of our head saying "what if?"

Though the risk is low, you can. All it takes is for one renegade egg to escape and for one sperm to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Having your tubes tied increases the risk of having an ectopic pregnancy (when a fertilized egg implants in one of the fellopian tubes or somewhere else outside the uterus), a very dangerous condition.

It is safer and more effective for the man to have a vasectomy.

Why in the world would you have your tubes tied?
there are other means of preventing pregnancy that are not invasive.
If you have a husband, have him get a vasectomy. this type of surgery is much safer on a man than a tubal ligation.
if he doesnt want to do it then stick to the pill or condoms or both.
Your health is much more important.

It's Not unheard of and sometimes on a rare occasion you can still conceive !
Tube-Tying can sometimes re-attach-depends on who performs the procedure!
It's a medical Lottery out there!

The odds are low but things can happen. Be cautious.

I have had mine tied for about 3 years, so far so good :)

Most likely no. If the tubes are clipped and cauterized (burned), chances are virtually nil. That is your best bet.

It really depends on what's done. There are different methods of tubal ligations. Some involving tying, clamping, cutting or burning.

Not all birth control is 100%. You have a verrrrry low chance of getting pregnant (less than 1/10 of one percent). Have as much sex as you can handle.
