Are you sure it is her baby? Why did she go to the docotrs 4 months ago, to see if she was pregnant?
You say she did not look pregnant, but did she look over-weight?

I am not sure, but if the doctors only did a urine stick test, and she was 5 months pregnant the hormone that activates the stick tests may not have been present, as it is given off by the DEVELOPING placenta, not a 2nd trimester fetus. There's other reasons th eurine test could come back negative.
But at 5 months, if they had done any type of manual or visual exam of her body they should have seen some changes, even if she did not gain an ounce. Most of the weight gain at the beginning of the pregnancy is just the placenta, extra water and nutrients for the baby. The baby doesn't actually gain much weight unti the last 4-8 weeks, which is why premmies miss out on so much.
I did not look pregnant until the 8 th month. I lost weight due to how horribly sick I had become, yet I gave birth to a very healthy 8.5 lbs baby. But I really looked pregnant those last 6-8 weeks.
I find it incredible that she didn't "look" pregnant last week and gave birth this week later.
That's why I asked if it was her baby. Maybe she adopted or "borrowed" the baby.
Congratulate her and give her support. She's going to need it if she didn't even know she was going to become a mom!

I had MC at five weeks and had advised everybody, then the very subsequent cycle I received pregnant once more. I swore I could now not inform someone this time till 12 weeks however would now not aid myself and advised everybody once we heard the toddlers heartbeat at 7 weeks. It's rather as much as you and for those who consider that you simply would be adequate having to inform everybody once more if whatever occurred. Best of Luck. I'm beautiful definite you're in a miles more secure zone now :D

Well, there isnt a whole lot of answers to this question really. The only thing I could say is that 1) she could have been lying to you and everyone else, or 2) there is always room for human error and misread test results. Probably more along the lines of the second.

I don't know how it is possible but I really had it happen to me. I had had that Norplant inserted in my arm and 8 months later, I had a 9 lb 3oz baby boy. And I know I wasn't pregnant before because I didn't do anything sexually before I had it inserted. Plus I never gained weight and he didn't move. The docor told me it was possible because some people's bodies don't register pregnant on a test

I would check the local police blotters to see if any newborns were missing.
