Many of the answers already posted are correct. It does depend on the base, it's size but mostly it's mission. If you are asking about a base dedicated to men and women who provide the ground transport of supplies and material there will be many. If you are referring to a base dedicated to basic training of troops the numbers and types will be far different.

All I can say without fear of contradiction is, that in 22 years of active duty I have only encountered one truth. Regardless of the base or the mission you will always have three less trucks than you need to perform that mission.

You all dont get it, There is one Truck on an installation and its atop the flagpole (Bldg 1). The razor is to cut the flag into three compontents (Stars, Red, White) if the installation is taken over and the match is to burn the flag pieces. The round of ammunition is for the commanding officer to end his or her life after the installation is taken over. Nothing to do with vehicles at all just folks talking outside of their lanes!

That first person is lost in the sauce.

Anyway, there's suppose to be only one TRUCK per post and it located on top of the Post flag which is located near BLDG 1. It contains a razor, a bullet and a match.

Depends on the size of the military base, and what kind of trucks you're referring to.
Ours has a few hundred. Fort Lewis has OMG I have no idea, but it's a lot.

The tops of flagpoles do NOT contain a razor, a bullet, and a match; that's an old wives' tale that they teach ignorant civilians and West Point cadets.
