You don't have to worry about being too polite, those darn things are tacky and annoying as all get out. I have told my friends and family to stop and by and large they have. If you need to add some reasoning to this then tell them that you are getting so many emails that they are taking up too much space in your in-box and that you are tired of having to search for the 10 emails that you want to read through all of the spam and chain mails that you receive. I mean who has time to open all of that junk. I have told my friends and family that I would love to hear from them if they actually want to take the time to write about how they are doing and what is going on in their lives, otherwise, they know that I delete things based on the subject lines... any thing that sounds stupid or that has been forwarded is trashed. I don't have the time to open them, and if occasionally I throw the baby out with the bath water... I am OK with that. That is how I handle it.

Life is so busy at Your house. You have decided to limit Your time on line, and spend that time with Your Family. Then when You see it is from Someone who sends this type of material, delete it, without reading it. They will get the message, hopefully, after a while. Hey did You get that email I sent You last night, good one right? I didn't even get a chance to check My email, instead I read the Little Mermaid to My Daughter, it was so sweet. They won't want to talk about politics with You anymore. In fact they might be asking a question on Yahoo about how to get Their Friend to stop gushing over Their Children.

If You do not have Children, You will have to put something else in the place of the book.

Best Wishes.....I don't like all the things People email Me...I like hearing from them though.

Just tell them that when you see "FW:" you press delete automatically, that you just don't have time to spend reading them.

I can't speak for the political ones, but whenever I get one warning me to guard against a certain behavior or "somebody" is getting me, I usually look up the urban legend on www.snopes.com and then "reply all" with the link, stating that this is a hoax, and the naivety behind it is laughable. That sort of behaviour ususally gets me dropped from the FW: list.

There's not a way to POLITELY tell them.

You have to get mean... tell them they're the idiot of the month for beileving that crap. Tell them never send you that crap or they'll regret it. Tell them if you get another e-mail like that, you'll do to them, exactly what they were trying to avoid by sending it to you in the first place.

I literally threatened all of my friends like that, and I never got another E-mail like that again. Of course were still friends.

Every time they send you a FW send it right back to them. They might get fed up with getting it again and stop sending them to ya.

Then again if they are friends you should be able to tell them nicely you don't like it. Even saying you don't read them because you don't have tim to read them.

Do what I do... Just tell them not to bother sending them because you are going to delete them without reading them. I also tell them that if they send long ones, even jokes, I won't read those either... That way when I delete them without reading them no one gets hurt.
