I have three adult children, oldest is 35 then 33 and the youngest will be 27 in Dec. I am divorced and for that one reason my children are different. They were taught RESPECT from an early age and we always talked about things even their discipline. Their father chose not to be part of their lives, so I knew this hurt needed to be addressed. So never was my door closed and anything they wanted to say would be heard with an open mind. But for me I was lucky to have three great kids who never smoked, used drugs and only one chose to put the cart before the horse and had my 12 year old grandson. Kids today are not HAPPY and for that reason they are going to be disrespectful and mean to all.

The past generartion were less informed about any topic. When the parents shouted they would be in the other room.
Todays generation have more information about any topic u mention. e.g a ten year old knows what a condom is. The earlier generation never knew till the age of 18-20. More info can be had via books, phone ,television and sources like INTERNET and YAHOO ANSWER etc.
The influential cause would be small families, children going independant after certain age. Children not taking care of parents etc.
More old age home will come into existance. More councilling taking place, the word unity in a family will be only in words and not in implementation.
The worst is people will have money to buy anything but peace of mind.

Adult Children? I believe they are more out of control these days, yes. I believe people generally have less will as those compared to of years and years ago. Convenience is great, money can help in external circumstances, though the easier things become, the easier it is to become accustomed and lazy. Certain things have less meaning these days. Surely, I am not trying to say all of these advances are bad--it's just that there are those who don't know what's truly important or have lost track of what is.
I asked my friend sitting here, he said: "people are not disciplining their children. What the hell is this thing with time-out?" I concur.
People need put back in their place again.

I don't think kids these days are more out of control I feel that what counts as out of control is different.
Think of was was 'out of control' in the 50's that would be a well behaved kid these days - times change.
Kids have always rebeled, did things that were deemed 'bad' - just that these things have changed and some have gotten much more serious.

Yes, they are more out of control because they have more choices. But who says control is a good thing? Lead by kindness and example and they will follow your lead.
