You should never spank a child.

I can't fathom why, against the advise of all childcare books and physicians, people still spank their children.

Why on earth would you hit someone smaller than you?

The younger a child is when you spank her, the worse.

You should stop spanking your child before she is born.

Spanking teaches children nothing but that hitting is OK.

If it stops a child from doing a behavior, it's because you've shocked the child (not taught her a lesson) or it's because you've broken the will of the child.

Why would you want to do either of those things?

I'd think you should stop spanking your child by the time you are about 25, maybe 30 at the most.

Please don't spank your child! It changes who they are and who they could be. I grew up in a home where we were spanked and my parents, who have very bad tempers, it too often led to more abusive situations, which as an adult now how even less respect and more anger towards them. As a parent I know it is difficult to discipline some children and have seen some children where time outs don't work. Have you tried taking away priveledges? Tv, phone, radio, toys, movies, allowance..... It is entirely your decision how to discipline your child, it is your business and right as their parent to decide what you think is the right thing to do for them, and you are a good parent to want to teach them how to do right, but please research the effects of spanking your children, it may change your mind....good luck....

I don't think there should be any automatic cut off age. It will depend on the child. Its not real smart to all of a sudden take away that parenting tool.

The way it works is the spankings become less and less frequent to the point they just disappear.

The best is not to spank, because when they are small it would give an injury to them, when they are grownup it would humiliate or psychologyically affect them.

Punish if at all necessary, by not giving then their needy items like toys, movies, going to resturant, skipping a meal etc. or in the name of God, like if u do not study God will not be happy, God likes educated persons, "GOD HELPS ONLY THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES" ETC. which will definately work
spanking is a temporary relief it will make them immune in a later part in life.

Uh, if he's a typical boy, about 21... or 35, if he's a slow learner. Girls don't deserve to be spanked.
