This is a project for my Sociology class. I have to ask 20 people this question and once I gather all my results, I have to write a paper summarizing the information. If you choose to answer, you can just answer "Yes" or "No", or you can explain your answers if you like. Oh, also, if it's not too much to ask, could you please provide me with your first name, your location (just the state is fine), your age, and marital status. Thanks!

It am completly against Gay marriage. Marriage is for men and women. The purpose of marriage is to populate the earth and it's not fair for children to grow up with 2 dads or 2 moms.

Rose, CT, 20, Single - Yes. The one reason why the whole gay marraige thing hasn't been passed is because of religion and fear that perfect america will go down the drain. Congress/Goverment wants to remain in the good old days - the 50's and 20's but now that there's 'freedom' in a sence that those in the 'closet' are all out. People need to realize that if there is a god he wont persecute simply because two independent individulas decide to love one another - be it oppossite sexes or the same.

This country was founded as a God fearing nation, giving freedom of choice and religion up to the individual. How can a country founded on such principles even be asking this question? Get mad if you will but Marriage is defined as a union between a Man and a Woman. God created Adam and Eve not Adam for Steve.

Yes I think it should. If this is against God's Law, than they are the ones who will have to pay the price. I do not think this is something they CHOSE. I believe a person is born gay, straight or any other way. It is not my place to judge a persons life choice.
The only other answer I will give is this; I have lived long enough to learn not to be to judgmental,I try to accept people for who they are ,and who two adults choose to sleep with is pretty much below my radar.

NO. Gay marriage is an abomination. Marriage should be between a man and a woman. Certain degenerates want us to change the institutions and values of our great nation. Next thing they'll be pushing for marriage between man and dog, and man and vacuum cleaner. The line has to be drawn sometime. Draw it now.

No, I believe that they should not be allowed to marry or have the same rights as married couples. It violates God's law and if we (the US) was truly one nation under God we would not be having this debate. My name is Mike, I live in Salt Lake, 36 and in a relationship.

According to gays I know, their lifestyle is a sexual preference and not a sexual orientation and therefore don't have legal cause. So if your sexual preference takes you to something other than a man and a woman, like pedophilia, bestiality or homosexuality, don't ask for approval. It would be like marrying your dog. Sexual orientation is protected by discrimination law but not sexual preference.
