but my mum won't let me. she says we aren't even dating yet, but we've already planned a date, and kissed a bit, too. she says there is nothing to tell her. i always share stuff with my gran, and it feels bad to not tell her i have a boy freind. i am thinking of telling her when my mum goes to ny with dad for a week and i go to gran's house, but i don't think i should. then i would be lieing to mum. so, as you can see, i'm in a sticky situation.

When you're with your gran, try to turn the conversation to relationships, your gran is bound to ask you if you have a boyfriend, and knowing what grandparents are like, she'll probably ask if you're "courting" yet (they can be so old fashioned, lol). Then all you have to do is say yes and tell her about your boyfriend.

If your mother finds out and gets mad, just tell her that your gran asked and that you are not prepared to lie to someone, especially not your own grandmother. Ask your mother if she intended to bring her daughter up to be deceitful (you can't beat a bit of reverse psychology).

Just be honest, with both your mother and your grandmother, and you can't go wrong.

Well...in my opinion you should tell her. If you always share stuff with her than i'm sure you are dying to tell her. You and the guy you are dating know what's going on more than your mom so she has no reason to say you aren't dating! Also, if your gran does find out about it and you don't tell her it'll just make her feel bad. Don't lie to your mom...just tell her how you feel.

To me, your mom needs to know everything, just like your grandma. If anything was to happen to you and you didn't tell your mom or your grandma, how will they found out the truth? I mean just give her some hints about you having a boyfriend, like say that you met a boy and he's very nice to you and that he wants to chill or sometime hang out. bring him to your house and let him meet your family, mostly your mom and grandma because those are the two main people that you want him to get along with.... you're not telling a lie about the fact you haven't told grandma or mom about your boyfriend, you just haven't told them whats really going on in your mind. be free and let your feelings to express the way you feel.....

Personally I think your gran would love to hear you have a "friend". You dont have to tell her it is a boyfriend, but a special friend. Grans love to be included in your life. Ask your mom if that is okay. Just because a Gran is older, doesnt mean that she wouldnt understand. Good luck

Hidding the truth is always the wrong thing to do. So basically you telling the truth would be right in your grandmothers eyes and wrong in your mothers eyes. Lying is right in your mothers eyes and telling the truth is right in everyones eyes. Choose the truth because lies lead to regret and despair. Tell your grandma and be straight forward and ask for guidance. Your grandma will help you out.

Why label him a "boy friend". You can talk CASUALLY about some guy you like and wait to build on that later if you do begin dating. Sounds like group dates would be a good idea for a while.

Would it make sense to tell grandma about your "good friend"?!? From the way you talk about him she would probably clue in on what your thoughts are about him and yet you wouldn't be crossing any lines your Mom has drawn.

Sounds like Mom is not wanting you to "grow up" and if you tell your grandma, then its like, "official" that you have a boyfriend.

Its your first "crush" and when your mom gives you permission, you can "brag" all you want :)

Discuss this with Dad and see what he thinks...then, maybe Mom will come around.

I wish you well..

If you say that you and your grandma are tight and you say that you always talk to her, why would you stop now. If you do talk to her will she repeat what you say to her to your mother. I am a grandmother and my daughter tells my grandchild not to tell me about somethings, but she does anyway and I never tell her mother. I want my grandchild to feel she can speak on anything with me. I want her to trust me. And she does. KEEP TALKING
