Does GMC/Chevy still make V-12 engines? Or somewhere arounda 702 C.I. engine? I found one question on here sayin' they made on sometime around the '60s or so. I'm planing on building a chevy 3500 dually from the ground up and thought I'd put a v-12 in it and add ton of after market parts on it to try and get around 1,000+ h.p. and be able to run racing fuel in it. Any help on websites that'll have a GMC/Chevy V-12 for sale (new engines) would be great.

I think I just might go with a chevy 572 C.I. (the one that puts out around 720-740 hp STOCK and runs on racing fuel). And ad a few aftermarket parts onto it to get around 1,000+ horsepower. I plan on putting it into a chevy 3500 duelly. So I know I'd be able to run good size slicks in the back to great traction and to plant the power to the ground without having to worry about slippage that much as if I would to hook the 572 to a chevy 1500. Anybody got any good ideas on how I can get atleast 1,000+ hp without adding a ton of parts? I atleast wanna add duel carbs (biggest ones I can find and would be able to fit) and duel turbochargers of decent size and would be able to produce a ton of power (I want the turbos for high-end speed, superchargers are usually for low-end power). I don't want like a dragster setup. Atleast somethin' that 'll get me somewhere from 1,000-2,500 hp and still be street legal. I've talked to a police guy and he said I can have 1,000 and still be street legal.

The police officer also said I can have as much power as I want, as long as it didn't go over the sound regulations from the exhaust. I also wanna have the biggest duel exhaust system too, to atleast keep the engine running cool, and to keep it from gettin' too loud. I don't know what the sound regulations are here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If anyone has any plans that would be useful for either the 572 C.I. or something as small as a 350 C.I. big block, send me an email at ffasheepdog@yahoo.com with the plans. Any help would be great.
I don't plan on building it all at once. It's gonna be a several years type of a project.

Chevy & Cadillac made some limited V12 & V16 in the thirtys, nothing you want to use today though. If you check Chevys web site they have short and long block (V8) engines to go that are good starting point. For example the "ZZ 572/720R | Part No.12498827" is 720 h.p out of the box, add twin turbo and your over 1000+ h.p.

I've never seen a V-12 or even a V-10 in a Chevy/GMC. I know Ford made a V-10, but not Chevy.

Believe us all. NO. Chevy has never developed the market for such an expensive engine. They put their "eggs" into the powerful V-8's with advanced (fancy) carburetion. The largest stock engine GM made in the past 30 years had a 500 cubic inch displacement. They put these into Cadillac Eldorados and Oldsmobile Toronados. These huge engines were needed in order to haul around these 2-ton vehicles. And they hauled them around very quickly. They also used so much gasoline that you could use thier gas guages as fans.

By the mid-70's (what with escalating fuel costs) Detroit downscaled their engines. They were also (I think) humiliated by the fact that European auto makers (like BWM) produced engines that were tiny (in comparison) that would blow the doors off of anything Detroit could produce. And they did it fuel efficiently.

You might consider trying to cram a Dodge Ram Hemi into that Dually and then tweak it from there. Remember, Dodge managed to fit a V-10 into the Viper.

Talk to the people who customize Corvettes. I used to own one and there was always a Vette in the garage where I took my car that had been tweaked to produce 500-600 hp from the regular stock 350 cu small block and the vintage 427cu big blocks.

Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing.

GMC has never mass produced a V12 engine. They have put V12's in prototypes but never in--wowo wait a minute. They made a V12 and a V16 in their Cadillacs back in the 40's I think. But not in a recent (last 50 years) truck

Nope. But Jay Leno once rebuilt and modified an early model Olds Toranado and got a V8 crate engine from General Motors that put out 1000 hp. He had to make the Toranado rear wheel drive as there was no way the stock front wheel drive transmission could handle that kind of horse power. They had it on the Discovery channel and when he got done with it it was one nice looking ride. Not sure if mere mortals like you or me could get our hands on one of those motors though. By the way it ran on pump gas.

Yeah, any car with a 12 is a monster. Look at the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG.. twin-turbo V12. It's a total beast. It's also $182,000.
