Well, first after you have finished packing...open your suitcase back up and take out half of everything in there. I am serious...you use only a little under half of what you bring. It is just perfect weather in the Bahamas in January but you will want to bring a sweater and a light jacket for 2 reasons. 1) it gets a little chilly on the water at night and 2) they keep the air conditioning on frigid...I am serious, it's always freezing. During the day just plan on a couple of cute suits, one pair of sandals that can be used with alot and some comfy walking shoes for shore excursions. You will want a couple of nice outfits or dresses for dinner if you are doing the formal dining and once again, remember, it is freezing inside at dinner. Another tip I can give you that will save you time and frustration is to check out the travel section at like Target or Walmart and buy you and your honey around the neck ID holders. Ok, some people might think this is gay but now, especially after 9/11 they check your ID and passport so many times between the airport and boarding the boat that you will be sick of digging it out. Most importantly, do not ever leave the ship without your on ship id card...they will not let you back on without a lengthy (day long) investigation. Have fun and stay in the tourist oriented areas to ensure your own safety...if the town is starting to look a little crummy, you have left the safe zone. This is where people get in trouble. Enjoy...you are giong to love your cruise.

Bahamas In January

Business casual for dinner, tanks, t's, shorts, one formal outfit (not needed unless you go to formal night), bathing suit, at least one pair long pants (jeans, sweats) and sweater. It can get chilly on deck at night.

Don't pack your whole wardrobe. There is usually a Laundromat on board or you can send it out for a fee.

No topless sunbathing in the Bahamas, but there is usually an adults only topless/nude deck on board. It's way up high and screened so no one can peak at you. They don't advertise it but it's there, if you're into that sort of thing.

Remember - you don't know these people and will never see them again, so why not leave your inhibitions at the pier and live a little!! That's what cruises are for.

As of Dec 31st, 2006 you'll need your Passport to get back into the U.S. Not needed for Bahamas. There is a form for that and you'll get it when you get your tickets. Fill it out ahead of time and give it to customs when you get off in Bahamas.

Hope you're going to Nassau because Freeport stinks.

Enjoy yourself. You'll have a great time not matter what you do.

Also keep in mind that drinks start at $5.00 and go up. Be careful, it adds up fast!!

Royal Caribbean is the best! They usually have at least one "formal" dinner night so remember to pack for that. The other dinner nights are more casual so summertime "dressy casual" is quite appropriate. For daytime wear, you really don't need much more than a swimsuit or two, shorts, and tees. If your cruise is at sea for most of the trip, you don't need a whole lot. If you will be visiting a few islands and plan to buy souvenirs, pack a small empty bag for them on your return trip. Good luck and enjoy! Oh...sunglasses and a hat are a must if you burn easily!

My wife and I will be cruising also in January, and except for the winter clothes we will be wearing when we arrive, I don't plan on bringing much more than a swim trunks and a tshirt. lol

But seriously, check to see if the cruise has laundrymats the passengers can use. You may want to bring one very nice dress, for dinner. other than that, shorts, swimsuit and suntan lotion.

As little as possible! Remember you're not going to a deserted place where there are no shops! You'll enjoy yourself a whole lot more if you're not carrying around massive suitcases.

You need your passport, toothbrush, swimming gear and your man - the rest is not important.

even though you are going in january, it will be warm in the caribbean. take shorts for day and maybe a light jacket for nights out by the pool. other than that, just go with what the others said. happy sailing!!!
