Yes, absolutely.
There are people I've known who have now passed on who poke their noses in from time to time: My grandma is pretty mellow; my pal who killed himself makes the occasional observation - I usually call him names for leaving, and he's pretty good about it.
But the one who's "with me" always is still here. It's D, my wife.
When we began to fall in love, we were 3,500 miles apart every day, every night, with no certainty of when we would ever be physically in the same air. Things were hard for her, and we used to talk with headsets on, and we did a kind of gentle binding spell, where we would clear our minds and visualise our closeness, standing face to face, or often standing there with me behind her, arms encircling, holding her safe, holding her close, holding her within my aura, my strength and hers combining, me heart and hers beginning to beat in time. And when she had to leave to take care of her day, she would feel me with her as she went, and I would keep her close inside my heart and carry her with me through my day and night.
Two years ago tomorrow we stood up before our family and friends, and spoke and kissed and held each other tightly in our wedding-knot. And everyday she is with me, and I with her, as we go forward, tracing the rythms and the footprints of our life together.

For whatever reason this question reminds me of Susan Serandon in the movie Step Mom. She is preparing her son for her death, and she talks with him about how she will still be there in his heart, and that they will have their "dream dates." It's a beautiful notion.
But are people we love really with us?
A few years ago I knew a family who lost a parent. As a way to stay connected they often would visit his grave and bring flowers. The kids were really little. Anyway the mom and the kids went and each brought Dad a rose. The mom yellow, the son orange because he loved orange, and the daughter pink because she loved pink.
When they were driving home the son said, "Look Mom, dad loved his flowers" She asked how he knew, and he said "Look at the sky, God let him paint it today." And she realized that the three colors they had given were quite vivid in the sunset. No one prompted that child to say that, he felt it.

Always! And- sometimes I feel this person "with me" so strongly, it's so real that I can't tell the difference. And if I had it my way, this very special person would be physically present more often. I sometimes wish that life wasn't so fast-paced and precarious just for this reason alone.

Yes, I believe my friend is. She was killed in a wreck this passed June. I've been totally sickened by it and she's always on my mind, even while I'm sleeping I have life-like dreams about her. I know she's with me. I'd die totally inside if I thought she wasn't.

Hey, it is the ever popular star of the leaderboard Marianne... thanks for gracing us with your presence! Okay, I think, yes. My younger sister Paula is most certainly always with me. I have 7 sisters, but Paula just loves me so dern much and is so proud of me and I feel the same about her, that YES, I always feel that she is with me. Could also have something to do with our incessant calls, emails, myspace.com messages and the like. We're very connected. I feel my other family members, too but not as much as her.

Yes. I know my mother is with me
She passed away 3 years ago.
There are times I feel she is looking out for me and things happen in my favor. In my heart she is with me. Her memory will never die as long as I am around.
