There are usually local shelters that work with battered women and children. They typically offer free or very inexpensive legal assistance as well.

Every city has different programs. There should be several places you can go for assistance in bill paying. However, if you are really going to leave, then the best thing for you to do is just go. Go to a women's shelter. That is what they are there for. They will feed you and clothe you. They will give you a place to stay and they will help you get a job or training. When you leave them, you will be ready to make it on your own. By being there, you will also be protected. You must stop asking how you are going to make it on your own, you must stop thinking of all the reasons not to do it....if you are being abused, you must just take a deep breath, pray a quick prayer and DO IT. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

I am assuming you are married (not sure if that matters)?Yes you can. The first thing I would do if it is physical, is dial 911 when it happens again...create your proof. Take pictures of every bruise or destruction in the house. Unfortunately the way our system works is you have to wait for it to happen again. Keep notes and records of everything and dont let him know you are doing it or find it. Dates, Times, Incident. You will need this information.
Go to your county court website, they have all kinds of information and forms you will need to help you through this.
If it is emotional abuse you can still go to that web site to find information but, depending on where you live it is harder to get financial assistance based on that. You should seek it because you do not have the money to move on.
If it is physical, please save yourself!

Anyone can try for financial assistance. If you are moving on your own and do not have a job or a very low income you can apply for food stamps, and other government assistance.
If you have a child and/or husband and still make low income if any then you can apply. It doesnt matter if you have left an abusive family or not.

Most states do have programs that will help you get away from an abusive situation. All you need to do is make that brave step to get out. In NC we have the women's/Men's shelter that help families to get back on their feet. Maybe you could contact your local Health Department and get a number to call. You may chose to remain unknown if that would help.

there are many not-for-profit shelters. If you are in an abusive situation, you owe it to yourself and (God forbid) any children you may have in the situation, to get out of it as soon as possible - and stay out of it!

Do the right thing for yourself and any children you may have and leave - don't come back, don't tell him where you're going, just go.

Yes, there are tons of programs and charities, it will not be easy and youwill have to make sacrifices, but it takes you to make the first step, go to a local shelter or welfare office, police or fire station and ASK QUESTIONS. Call hotline for abused women, in you local phone book.

I don't know about that, but there are always shelters to go to. Maybe someday someone will open up something like that. That'd be a kind, smart thing to do.

If you need help, you can go to any counseling center and walk in and ask them probably.

in many cities there are houses for women to live if they've been abused (women's shelters), where they're really hard for abusers to find. they'll let you live there for a while until you feel safe.

No, but I do know that there are battered women's shelters that will attend to your needs until you find something better.
