I've heard drinkin a warm cup of milk helps. But personally I usually drink some tea right before bed, chamomile tea is good for relaxing the body. Another thing you can try is getting some good cardio in a few hours before going to be, I'd say at least 3 hours before so that your blood pressure can drop and your body can cool down. As the body cools it's easier for you to relax and rest.

Exercise hard from around 6 to 7 PM, then take a shower and relax until 9. You'll wear yourself out and have an easier time falling asleep earlier than normal.

When I know I am going to have to go to bed at an earlier time than I normally do, in order to get up earlier, or catch up on sleep I take a pm medication. Alot of times I just take Tylenol PM, or other over the counter medications to put me to sleep. They work with in 20-30 mins of taking them and really help me. Also, it helps to stay away from caffeine anytime past 3 pm or so, other wise you still have caffeine in your system and it will keep you awake. It is also important to try and clear your head of any thoughts and just play relaxing music as you fall asleep. I like to take a warm bath and put on new pj's and climb into bed in a VERY dark room (after taking my pm medication) and play soft classical music and fall asleep. It really helps to keep cell phones shut off during this time so you are not distracted.
hope this helps!!

Honestly, I count sheep. Backwards. I start at 50 and count backwards VERY slowly. What do I mean count sheep? I actually imagine sheep jumping over a fence. I spend about a minute or two on each sheep doing funny things. They can do ballet over the fence, they can cartwheel over the fence - I know it sounds stupid but it keeps me a little entertained (rather than bored, thinking about TRYING to sleep) and I have never made it past 25. Mentally it relaxes me and keeps my mind off of the fact that I am trying to fall asleep. Stay away from the caffeine, too.

work out during the day to use up your energy, so you don't have large reserves of energy when you go to bed, and be sure to exercise strenuously until you're breathless and sweaty. doing this will make you tired when you go to bed. don't drink caffeinated drinks after 7:00, and don't take a brisk shower right before you go to bed, take a warm bath instead to relax.
sleep well:)

Sure.
I had a friend who had the same problem.
We cured his problem by attaching a spare bed to one wall of his living room, you know, vertical on the wall,
so that the covers and all hung straight down.
Then when ever he "had to go to bed", you know, he
would just go over and stand there next to the bed. When
he got tired of doing that, he would just go to his real bed and fall fast asleep. Worked for him...

Some say room temperature milk, a book, tell yourself the longest store your mind can hold, take a tub, music. Keep in mind that lack of sleep can harm you over time. My experience was that I found that my metabolism changed, and I gained weight. Good LuckZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

take a warm shower, listen to some soft music and relax. If that fails, either read a book or watch a long and boring movie!

Unwind - hot bath - read something that is not suspenseful then meditate. Put your mind into the relaxation not into the chore of falling asleep.
