she could not have a uti for a couple of years. The infection would grow into a kidney infection.

Try a fee clinic or health department. School nurse could help

UTI's do not last for a coupld of years and they are not caused by sex. However, if she is 15, has had the "UTI" for a couple of years and believes her problem is due to "sex"- then she needs to reevaluate her life. Has she been having sex since she was 12, 13? That is pathetic and if her parents haven't caught on by now she better hope it's a UTI and not something serious. Waiting a couple of years to have any sympton or illness treated is a big mistake, especially one that has to do with your reproductive system.
Call your friend and tell her that it's abouttime her parents take her for a routine physical or for her to go to a clinic so that she can find out what is going on. WHATEVER she she decides to do, tell her to be honest with the physician, not to mislead them out of fear of "getting in trouble" and if she explains to the doctor that she would like part of her exam or questions kept confidential, then she has every right to do so.
When all of this is out of the way- tell her THAT SHE SHOULDN'T BE SEXUALLY ACTIVE AT 15 AND THAT IF SHE REALLY FINDS IT NECESSARY TO BE SEXUALLY ACTIVE, THEN FOR HER TO USE PROTECTION!!!!!

She MUST get checked. Whether it is UTI or a more serious disease it is essential she get a diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.

Have her call Planned Parenthood which may be able to offer a low cost exam and treatment.

If she needs to use a certain doctor because of the insurance she should call the office ahead of her visit and ask to talk to the doctor herself, and explain her need for confidentiality (although maybe if her parents knew more she wouldn't be ill) and it is likely a doctor will respect that.

There can be various causes for urinary tract infections, so there is no need for anyone to assume it is from having sex. However, as I said, there is the serious question of whether she has something much worse. She must not delay seeing a doctor.

UTI's are extremely painful in most cases, so having one for years is not only not plausible, it would be unbearable for most women. She could get a UTI from wiping the wrong direction after going to the bathroom or a hot tub, or a hundred other places. It's not an STD or anything like that. Also, if she does have complications from sex, the doctor cannot tell her parents. A woman's sexual health, regardless of her age, is confidential.

A uti doesn't mean you have sex...so she can tell her mom it burns when she pees and her mom will know what to do and will not think she had sex.
