It's not so hard once you decide to stop.

It's the decision that is difficult because after all it has it's positive side.

It's when you realise, that for you, some of the positives have run out, that the balance may tip you to taking a decision to stop.

What kind of things might take you in that direction?

I suppose that will depend on your personal situation, but maybe just finding out what it's like to be just yourself, and not yourself plus all kinds of interference from the chemical effects in your blood stream, may be enough.

Expect to go through some pain if you do try to stop.

Apart from the detox, you may experience some unpleasant things about yourself that may have led to your escapism in the first place.

But hey, at least you will be traveling a different road, and one that you will have chosen as part of your own destiny.

Louise D has the right idea - replace the habit with a different habit - I know and this will sound silly but when I wanted to stop biting my nails at a point during my teens - I would not wear my rings until I had stopped I loved those rings - that seemed to work. When I quite a 20 + year smoking cigs habit someone told me to say - "it's just another day" that became my defence against the cravings - stopped cold turkey. Take up walking biking anything to replace the habit

When I quit smoking prayer actually worked, (no I'm not a big religious freak) I just told God I couldnt quit smoking and I needed help. I got up the next morning and never have smoked again, I haven't even had a craving. I tell people I didn't quit, because quitting is hard, the vice was simply removed from my body. By the way.... I did not think it would work, I only did it because a friend told me she quit smoking that way, I was actually pretty cynical about the whole thing until it worked. God works in mysterious ways...

Hi there are many ways to stop, however you need to deal with the addiction as well as the emotions that are associated with this. So the following therapies would be useful to you: Hypnotherapy and TFT (Thought Field Therapy). They are both very effective as well as acupuncture. If you would like to know anymore contact me dochsa.co.uk

Use your quitting as a way to develop your Willpower and to make you stronger and mentally more powerful.

ask yourself this... why do you use it ? why do you want to stop using it ?

its not so hard to stop. i quit it after smoking it daily for 19 years, its much easier to just be like every other doper and to tell yourself ''it's hard to quit''. but the easy way is not the best way !

get into cyling / running or some other sport you enjoy, It'll only take your mind off it for a bit but at least it will give you something else to do, also think of something you really want and save your money to treat yourself
Perhaps stop hanging out with your stoner mates they'll only bring you down if you really want to stop.
or at least only see them every other weekend

The same way I stopped smoking legal cigarettes. You MENTALLY put your manhood in one hand, a pack of smokes in the other hand and honestly ask yourself, "Which is the strongest?" If your answer is the smokes you have my sympathy.
