Cats love the sound that paper makes, it drives them nuts!

Cats are notorious for lying on paperwork and notes and books. I have four kitties and one Pom, and they just want my undivided attention. One of my kitties is sitting on my printer, staring at the screen as I type this and another is sitting next to the keyboard, lying on some of my papers. I have a basket on the shelf below my printer where I put paperwork that has to be sorted and filed and all of the cats take turns curling up in there for a nap. Cats want you to pay attention to them and their beauty and grace 100% of the time and that is the way of the cat. Have a good night.

Cats love to lay on paper, for a long time I put a newspaper down in the hall and my cat would lay on that. My daughters cat loves Sunday mornings and the Sunday paper.

The sole reason that cats were put on this earth is to cause inconvenience to humans.
My cats love laying on, puking on, sitting on and playing on anything that will cause me annoyance!! It is impossible for me to read a book or paper while my cats are around, as they will sit on the page I am looking at. Then they purr and meow and knead me until they get my attention. Once they have my attention, they grow bored of me and go off to sleep somewhere in the sun, until next time I am concentrating on something!
But I love them anyway...

My cats do the same. It's a way to get my attention. One other thing the like to do is chew on the pens I write with. Your cat just wants to spend time with you and when you're reading or writing, you're not paying complete attention to them. Paper feels good to them, but they hate the feel of alluminum foil under their feet.
It's the way it goes, sometimes. Just get used to it.

Yes, your cat is trying to associate with you and wants to be on your belongings. He is showing his affection towards you.. My parakeet did that every time I was studying. He would land on my book and start packing the ends of the paper.

I always wonder that too! My cats always gravitate towards newspaper or my school papers, meanwhile ignoring the 4 beds I have bought for them. I would love to know the real reason, texture-wise, why they love paper for bedding?

They love to have your 100% undivided attention. What I want to know is how do they know what page I am reading, as that is the one that they always choose to sit or lay on? You gotta love 'em.

It has your scent on it, they like the soft feel and sometimes if you're not paying enough attention, they'll rip little bits off the edges with their teeth!
