the break light comes on and stays on quite a bit in my 2000 ford escort, I'm not sure why it's doing it either. It's not on when I am at a stop light but when I start to accelerate it turns on and it seems to sometimes turn off when I get into third gear but sometimes it doesn't. I think it's mainly on when I have my foot on teh accelerator. Any suggestions as to what is causing this and if it's expensive or even necessary to fix?

I have owned a few escort GT`S. Sounds like a short in the electrical somewhere.Try to put in a new fuse for the emergency brake,or brake lights.Start with the cheapest fixes first.Check your emergency brake, make sure nothing is blocking it from being pushed all the way to the floor.Sounds like a bare wire hitting metal somewhere. If none of that works, you`ll need a professional to look more in depth. Good Luck!

Loud mufflers are purely annoying. it is different than for the undeniable fact that they actually do not help in increasing horsepower critically, in the event that they do something great in any respect. bright exhaust information would seem solid although, and that they are affordable! A lil' window tint could not harm. Rims make the main important effect on how a automobile looks. an attention-grabbing paint activity ought to fee too plenty money. A spoiler could not harm the two, yet not a wing (genuinely everyone knows that the escort won't bypass 130mph without important artwork carried out to it, it will seem ridiculous).

Step one, find the switch on the parking brake lever or cable and make sure it is going off when you release the parking brake. If it seems to be okay, then you have a problem in the braking system and you need to have it looked at as it is a safety feature.

There was a day in time when all a break light told ya was that the parking break was set.

Towards the end of the 90's though, they started using them as a diagnostic indicator lights also.

Since it is more important to be able to get a vehicle to stop when you want it to than to run when ya want it to, I recommend consulting a qualified service person. Ya got break problems.
