The gardening department of most stores stock testing kits for less than $5. Your local County Agent will also check a soil sample. Another simple way is to look for urine testing strips in any pharmacy department. The package has a color comparison chart to give you a ph reading.

You might see if there's a County Extension Service in your area. They're part of the Conservation Service and they may have a free kit or for a nominal fee would come and give you a soil analysis.

ph soil testers are available at most garden supply stores. The Wal Marts of the world may not carry them but you can call and ask. Hope it helps.
