The power light is on, they are connected in back of the computer, I have run the troubleshooter with no luck. The computer has been boxed for a week because I moved. All other components are working. What could be the problem?

First check to make sure you don't have it plugged into the blue slot. It's hard to distinguish between blue and green when there's not much light in the back of your computer. If that's ok, it could be a muted volume setting in your Sound controls. Double click the little round grey speaker in the bottom by your time (you might have to click the arrow pointing to the left to see it), and then make sure nothing is muted. If that doesn't work then it's probably a loose sound card (if it's a seperate card). Try openening up the system and reseating the card that your speakers plug into. If that doesn't work or you computer has onboard sound then it's probably a bad sound card or motherboard.

Check the volume, both on the speakers and the computer and make sure they're up and not muted.

If that doesn't work, try connecting them to something else like an ipod or a portable CD player, if it doesn't play, the speakers may be damaged; if it does work, it might be a problem with your sound card or its drivers.
