i use only name brand fuel... it does cost a bit more but i worked for a fuel distribution company for a few years and there absolutely IS a difference between name brand and generic fuel stations!!!

all fuel is refined in the same type of facility but not all fuel is refined the same way and those additives like techron do make a difference.

after working in the fuel industry i would never ever buy generic fuel again! i love my car too much!

I would prefer to purchase certain brands - or at least buy the same brand if it is consistently cheaper. For instance: Hess, Rutter's, Turkey Hill or Sheetz in Pennsylvania is traditionally cheaper than the Mobile/Exxon stations.

However, I've been known to stop where convenient.

Since gas prices are so extremely high here (I live in Southern California) I stop at the cheapest place that I notice. I'm not a brand name kid of girl, gasoline is gasoline to me.

Funny you should ask. I just yesterday exited the freeway only to realize Shell was the only gas station that would accept my debit card there. So I got back on the freeway until I found a gas station that I wanted to support with my dollars! I am selective when it comes to gas, especially if Shell is involved (read up on their highly suspect activity, including alleged murders, in Nigeria!) Check out news sources, such as bbc.co.uk for news on gas companies. Also check out betterworldhandbook.com. They have a section of their site dedicated to helping you choose socially- and environmentally-responsible gas companies based on their easy-to-read rating system. Makes chosing wisely a snap! :) Hope this helps.

I fill up when we are near somewhere with cheap fuel. It is not worth a special journey.

When I had an older performance car, I only used Shell or BP but now with a modern diesel it does not seem to matter.
