California has always been a leader in air pollution control. They put in very tough air pollution controls 30 years ago, and were heavily criticized then (by the same groups of people who will criticize this). "It will kill California's economy." Yep, that's what it did (not).
Later the Feds adopted California's standards. The State's air got way better. CA was right then, and they're right now.

ABSOLUTELY!!
C. A. G. is wrong on 2 counts.
1) Manufacturers are manufacturing cars well within CALIFORNIA's current standards. NO grounds for suit.
2) At this point, the issue is Federal, not state.
The A. G. is grandstanding in a liberal state to garner votes.

I agree with California. Somehow good old Mr. Tucker could make a car 50 years ago that got better gas mileage than some 4 cylinders. Auto makers must make cars more efficent now if we and our children are to breath fresh air.
