I'd agree with tonic. Again. But, the post op visit is also when the dentist checks to be sure everythingis healing properly. That responsibility is up to whoever removes the sutures.

hold suture w/ hemostats.. pull away from gums slightly.. cut with suture scissors.. pull suture out .. if area slightly bleeds, compress w/ a 2x2 or cotton roll until bleeding stops... hope this helped.. I do it about a million times a year

they just need to be clipped if they didn't dissolve on their own. Then you just pull them out.
