I think this is a vicious circle between people telling you what to do and your depression, as it is caused by insecurity. You simply have to break it, by standing on your own, affirming your own will and acting according to it. You have to prove yourself and the others around you that you are able to do that, and the problem will eventually solve itself. You gain confidence in your own choices and that will help you proceed further. Also, the ones that once told you what to do will then acknowledge your potential and leave you alone in your decisions, unless you ask for their advice. Hope it helps.

I understand how you feel very much. I spent most of my life listening to people tell me what was best for me. The short of it is, only you know whats best for you. We are all different and react and think differently. After awhile it does get old people telling you what to do. Its a natural thing to react in depression, and anger. You sound like a very intelligent person. You'll figure it out. These are our lessons in life. Listen to that small voice inside you. Do what's best for you!

You are right, you do whatever makes you feel better, don't pay attention to others trying to tell you what is good for you, even though they might be doing it bcs they care about you, I hope you can get out of your depression soon, Good luck!

They are trying to help you. Listen to them, and either decide to take their advise or tell them to cram it!
