No.

The ideal politician uses power to benefit his constituents, not himself/herself.

Salesmanship has replaced integrity & maturity,
immediate gratification replaced long term structural health of the economy, playing the sound byte on the news has replaced international cooperation, & blind party loyalty/winning at all costs has replaced being a citizen steward of a country that has entrusted its leader with making the best decisions.

Since ideals do not manifest in this world, the best we can do is sometimes get someone who has some ethics & is not enslaved by an idealogy. It is possible. I have seen it happen. Not often, but sometimes.

Absolutely. Politicians are BS artists they have to be to survive. I always thought a used car salesman would make a great politician, but a Septic tank repairman kinda tops that.

No, I'd say an "ideal" politician does his or her best for the constituents. But, good politicians do what you are saying every election.

My ideal politician is a leader that plays as little politics as possible and watches the back of the American people instead of trying to stab it like liberals do everytime they back abortion, gay marriage, and undermine our national security.
