Cause it's not nice to hurt people. Oh, wait...the terrorists didn't get that memo.

McCain and his do-gooders as opposed to what - Bush and his Evil doers?
Your own language gives you away - you recognize that you are asking for your OWN rights to be a special case that is not available to humans as a whole. This is ignorance and cowardice. It is well known that torture does not yield reliable information.
It is also know that absolute power corrupts. Do not put the ability to torture, hold secret prisoners and secret trials with secret evidence into our government. We are NOT a nation that 'disappears' people.
If you want to live in a country where this is the way things are done to keep the public safe - perhaps you should consider relocating, because there are plenty of countries that work this way. But not America.

Bush's War on Terror has failed, not because people are tying his hands, but because of his own incompetence and that of his advisors. In five years, Bush and Company have been unable to apprehend the supposed mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden. Why is that do you think? Has global terrorism increased or decreased since 9/11? Is that an indication that Bush is winning his War on Terror? The current administration should all be kicked out of office and replaced by people who know what they are doing. Enough said.

The president still has plenty of tools to use.
The problem is just that he would rather use the illegal ones. He thinks they are more effective. Well they are illegal for a reason. Our president doesn't seem to understand that.
Infact, in his interview with Matt Lauer he asked back, "So what? Why is that not within the law?" when asked about our having secret CIA bases in eastern europe.
How can any country take us seriously when our president flagrantly flaunts that he doesn't care if he is breaking the geneva convention?
How can any country expect us to hold good to a trade agreement or an armistice agreement if we will not hold up to a basic agreement that says we are not going to torture prisoners?!?

His hands are not tied, although i wish it were. If his hands are really tied then war on Iraq wouldn't have happened, the war against the Talibans wouldn't have happened. The only thing which is tied is his brain, that's why 9/11 happened. It was a preventable attacked. And why is Bin Ladin still scot-free after so many years?Think of the lives lost while trying to catch Bin Laden.

Because the last liberal victory was subverting the war in Vietnam. They are trying to regain their political glory years, too bad they are doing it at the jeopardy of our troops and safety.
McCain is so desperate to be President, he will do anything or say anything that he thinks will get him the Presidency, I think he is going about it the wrong way, I would not vote for him as dog catcher and I think most Republicans feel the same way.

What about your rights? You gave up free speech for free speech "zones", you handed over your right to not be wire tapped without a memo, etc. You are doing a great job of getting rid of your rights. I guess you think this will defeat terrorism as the terrorist begin to take pity on you for being so stupid?

If we try to change the articles of the Geneva Convention other nations can do the same and just think what could happen to our troops.

An election is coming up so liberals are strongly motivated by politics to say and do things that are going to help get them elected rather than protecting the American people. The Bush administration however doesnt care about popularity, only keeping us safe!
