I am in love with my married counselor, and let him know before my next session that I should stop seeing him because of my strong attraction. He called me and said that is normal, and that I shouldn't stop. At the next session, he said he had to say, he thinks I'm very attractive, and if he wasn't married or my counselor, he would want to go out with me. I've never fooled around with a married man before. When he told me that, it is almost as if he was inviting something. He did talk about boundaries, but when he told me he thought I was attractive to him, too, I felt really glad, and hopeful. What should I do? Shouldn't he have NOT told me that?

Its called transference, it happen sometimes between client, and counselor, basically your counselor is focused totally on you, especially if your sessions are client-centred ones, you feel this attraction, which is not going to do you any favours, because it will get in the way of the therapeutic process, you just wont grow, so i think you need to request seeing another counselor...and hope the same thing don't happen there either.

You should not go to him again. Your first instinct was right. It was unethical for him to tell you that he thought you were attractive and that he'd date you if he weren't your counselor. First of all, cancel your appointment with him. Second, find a new counselor-perhaps a female? Third, call the state licensing board and report him.

He's a man, you're a woman. It's good to know that you don't scare people away. It's not a abd thing to be attractive...

But just remember something here!!! You're trying to save your marriage, so keep doing that... Few people are willing to seek for help to save marriage, and that's why divorces are so commun now-a-day.

Do you really want to take two stpes back and be just like everyone else? or.. Are you going to keep your goal in mind!!!

You can foresee trouble, and your right!!!

If this makes ypu feel aroused, just go over to your husband and use all that energy with him.. It'll help you achieving your golas!!!

Best wishes...

Seems that your "counselor" needs counseling on the code of ethics he ought to respect alongside his wife.

DON'T GET INVOLVED WITH A MARRIED MAN! Your going to have one angry cat on your back for the rest of your life, and plus, if you do go out with him, your not only going to hurt your self, your going to hurt an innocent woman. Switch counslers and forget about him totally!

Wow, he should not have said that, but he is only human and so are you. You should stop going to him. For your sake, and for his families. He could be doing this same thing to every pretty girl that comes into his office.

1) You should have told him

2) You have to drop him. I do not think he can continue to help you in a dispassionate manner
