I am talking about adults who are sane and should know better, but shower once a week, if you are lucky, and rarely brush their teeth, in addition to not washing their hands after using the toilet. You can smell the person being a few feet away. What to do? I have told this one person, in a kind manner, that he needs to brush up on the personal hygiene issue and he gets mad no matter how I go about it. His friends know that he smells too but don't have the 'stones' to tell him. His family members are neat, bathe daily, so I am wondering what went wrong with him?! His children even say he smells bad at times.

There is nothing much you can do with this person, besides wait until he is asleep and drag him into a shower. He needs to want to change his hygiene. The best way for him to want to do it, is to have women comment on his hygiene. If he is constantly rejected by women because of this, he will want to change because no one likes rejection. As much as people act as if they can deal with it, no one wants to be looked over. So, a think a woman's influence would be the best bet for him. Another man telling him means nothing.

YUCK!
I knew someone like this. She weighed a million pounds and was obviously very lazy. Her children smelled too. I can't understand how she even HAD children, the way she smelled but men will screw anything. I wasn't the one to tell her because I hated her and wanted a client to tell her (that would really embarrass her) One of our co-workers told her. Her response was to cry and keep deodorant in her purse, and guess what she still smelled. Deodorant does not get rid of funk only soap and water applies rigorously and often does.

Unless your friend has a medical condition that makes him reek and these are rare, he may have problems with self esteem. Is he fat? If someone lets themselves go that much physically personal hygiene isn't far behind especially if it's harder to practice because of extreme/morbid obesity. Since you already told him as a friend and he had the nerve to get mad at you I suggest ostracize him.

I knew this woman, if she showered once a week that was alot. one time we where in my car and I smelled something so bad, I did not know what it was. it was this woman. her husband also smells real bad. whenever you are around them you have to hold your breath. I shower twice a day, not because I smell, so that I smell clean and refreshed. they stayed in my home for six and half months and they knew I showered and I was saying I am going to take my shower to let them know to take a shower. they home is nasty also. I stayed in there home for two weeks and I had to make them clean the stove and oven because it was as black as coal and I could not cook on a nasty stove or oven. no they where so called friends not family

I had a maintenance man at my home a few weeks ago, fixing the kitchen light...He had, I'm not kidding, greenish-yellow teeth with dark spots on them. He had greasy hair and dirty filthy skin. But that's not the problem. This man smelled so rank, and his breath was atrocious. Every time he spoke to me, I felt woozy. He was like a real life PigPen in my kitchen. I had to Febreeze and Oust every room he walked through. I'm talkin' He made my garage smell like body odor. It was so foul. I reported this man to his company, as I'm surely not the only one who notices.

As for the advice, you can only keep telling him how offensive people find his hygeine.

yes, ironically my ex-best friend...we're absolute polar opposites and she wouldn't brush, floss, shower, pluck, anythingggg. i would sometimes have to do somethings for her. it got so bad that some of her teeth rotted out and she had to get her toesnails pulled because of a bad foot infection. she was nasty, but strangely enough, guys still liked her. gross.
