My son is 12 yrs old but borderline on height of 135cms. Can he wear an adult seatbelt or does he need a booster seat? Confused?

I appreciate all the answers so far, but the information to me is at least ambiguous in that it is not specific enough regarding the height and age. I have read numerous information leaflets which are contradictionary.......... Hence this question!

A 7 year old who is 140 cms tall is over the height for a child restraint and may use an adult seat belt. A 12 year old who is 130 cms tall is over the age threshold and therefore may use an adult belt.

I hope this helps. You can find further information, with full details of the exemptions, if you go to page http://thetravelpage.co.uk/accessories/booster_seats/booster_seats.html

Child Restraints - New Law

New regulations governing the use of child car seats will come into force on 18 September 2006.

We will be running advertising from July to September in press, radio and online to advise parent and carers about the new regulations governing the use of child car seats.

Stephen Ladyman, Road Safety Minister said:

"Most people make sure that children use some kind of restraint when travelling on the road, but it is vitally important to use the right one; and not to use an adult belt before the child is big enough.

"Small children need the protection that baby seats and child seats are designed to provide. Seat belts are designed for adults. Children who have grown out of child seats still need to use booster seats and booster cushions.

"We estimate that these changes could prevent over 2000 child deaths or injuries each year."

If he is 135cm or under and 12 or under he will have to use a booster seat until he either A) hits 13 or B) grows a cm. It's for your childs safety!

If he is 12 he will be ok without one as the law states it is for persons under 135cms and under 12 years old,, otherwise it would be illegal for a 35 year old of restricted growth to travel in a car without a booster. As a cab driver i had to go through these laws but found out my passengers are exempt.

Let him wear a normal seat belt. The stick He'll get from his pals who say they haven't had to for years and so. Under no circumstances put a 12 year old in a booster seat. the effects could last for ever.

Common sense should prevail here. If he can wear an adult seat belt comfortably and you believe it affords him the same safety as the booster cushion, then go with your instinct.

"The final guy or woman that stop or replaced into fired may be the only held in charge for each little thing that is going incorrect - till the subsequent individual quits or is fired." i know this one is all too real! whilst our former supervisor stop to circulate north along with her husband, she have been given the blame for each little thing that had long gone incorrect up till then. once I have been given fired, a chum noted as me and informed me all approximately how the bosses have been blaming me for the flaws that had long gone incorrect earlier I left. i replaced into the blame for supplies no longer getting there on time even however i replaced into no longer the only in charge for ordering supplies, the boss replaced into! She mentioned she could have reminded him of that actuality, yet she rather needed to maintain her activity!
