Why is it so many people think of muslim as a race?

I only realised it recently but why is that when people refer to someone as muslim the generalise it in such a way that it implies it's their race, Hitler did the same with jewish people. you have everybody who is being picked upon because of their religion claiming its racism when in fact it's not racism just religious and political bias.

Some of it could be chalked up to blatant ignorance, and in that case, it wouldn't surprise me because that also shows how many people were ignorant enough in the first place to vote for that nincompoop we have running this country. However, it seems to be a case of religious intolerance mixed in with blatant ignorance.

Same as always ignorance. It is fast becoming a sectarian question.And yes it is racism, it is rife in Britain now , because of the influx of immigrants. On one hand we have the government arguing about the economy and the need for skilled and un-skilled workers to fill positions no longer wanted by their citizens. And the other is the rhetoric about needing to curb the amount of immigrants we allow to live here. In between we have the media hyping Muslim terrorists.Many people have read about the 'evil terrorist' and believe what the papers and TV are telling them...Shame really because most Muslim people are very nice people and there is good and bad in every creed and colour.........

Being a Muslim does not imply a particular race. However, in the case of Judaism, being a Jew and Jewish is a race as well as a religion. Muslims are not all necessarily of the dark skinned races, Arabs, Pakistanis, etc. There are huge numbers of European Muslims, including Iranians [Persians] and Europeans from the Balkans. I would also include Turks in the European group of Muslims.

Well of course Muslim is not a race. There are Muslims in China, Indonesia, Poland, Middle East, Iran, Africa etc...They come in all races. The problem is with the extremists which come mainly form the Middle East and North Africa. I believe that the terrorist mentality is as much a cultural thing as anything else. People are usually surprised to find out that honor killings happen in Christian families in the Middle East and North African countries.

The Climate which exists regarding muslims has been created by the Lunatic , Evil , Fanatical Religious Leaders , with their preaching of Death to the Infidel ,Radicalising of their youth ,the establishing of "Training Camps" to recruit and train Suicide Bombers , whose aim is to Murder innocent people around the World , and destroy as much property as possible, and upsetting the economy of many countries . there is a serious lack of education surounding religions and nationalitysthankfully some schools are starting to concentrate more on multi racial and multi cultural aspects as part of the good citizen side of education something tha wasnt considered necersary when i was at school i wish it had been because i admit i dont know enough about other cultures

It's a shame as I think they mean Middle Eastern when they say "Muslim." However, the densest Muslim population is in Indonesia in South East Asia. However, there is no oil there, so no propaganda against it's people.
