No food burns calories. Only exercise and movement burns calories.
Some people like to say that these 'non-calorie' foods - foods that are so low in calories they barely count as food, such as condiments - burn calories because your body burns more calories digesting it than you consume when you eat it.
However, pickles are full of salt. So while you may break even on the calorie factor, you are salt loading. Which will make you thirsty, water load, and then retain that water.
In the end, the scale # will look higher, but you won't have gained fat.
A few pickles do make a great healthy snack though. ;)

Yes, you burn calories when you eat pickles because when you eat pickles. Pickles contain about 5 calories each varying on size. You burn more calories digesting a pickle than a pickle contains. It doesn't aid in food digestion--quite the contrary, they are difficult to digest. I'm not too sure about the brand of the best pickles though.

No. My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

One pound of body weight is equivalent to 3500 calories. So in order to lose one pound of weight, we need to create a calorie-deficit of 3500 calories. But its not quite as simple as that. Your basal metabolic rate, or BMR, is the minimum calorific requirement needed to sustain life in a resting individual. It can be looked at as being the amount of energy (measured in calories) expended by the body to remain in bed asleep all day! BMR can be responsible for burning up to 70% of the total calories expended. Calories are burned by bodily processes such as respiration, the pumping of blood around the body and maintenance of body temperature. Obviously the body will burn more calories on top of those burned due to BMR. As we grow older, our BMR will steadily decrease. In youth, BMR is higher, and as we age we have less lean body mass - slowing the BMR. The more lean tissue on the body, the higher the BMR, the more fatty body tissue, the lower the BMR. (This does mean that an individual can raise their basal metabolic rate by undertaking regular exercise). A person's height is also a factor, a tall thin person will have a higher BMR than a shorter, fatter person. Most overweight people should lose weight gradually. For safe and healthy weight loss, try not to exceed a rate of two pounds per week. Sometimes, people with serious health problems associated with obesity may have legitimate reasons for losing weight rapidly. If so, a physician's supervision is required.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

I don't know but I hear all kinds of tales about certain foods that burn more calories than they have in digestion. I hear it about highly acidic foods, like pineapple, vinegar, and pickles. But I also heard it about celery and foods with huge amounts of fiber.

Regardless of whether or not this is true, pickles contain WAY too much Sodium to make eating a lot of them advisable.
Ask your doctor for a change, and stop listening to loonies who don't know what they're talking about.

That's what they say b/c of the vinegar in them. I heard just drinking a tsp of vinegar a day can help you lose weight.
