Can't they in some way override Bush in his plan to alter rules set by the Geneva Convention? In his latest tactics, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060916/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush, he makes me very ashamed to be an American. Where are the world powers in controlling the United States' lack of regard for worldly standards? Can anyone say Hitler? This is just a small S.O.S. from U.S., and is by no means crtical of the EU. Just mostly curious if there is anything that they can do?

-Manbearpig- Is that all you have? No justification? No facts to back up opinion? Ready to attack but without supporting means...sounds familiar.

Curious115- I agree with you on your last statement, but what valid information will torturing really give us? Have you ever read the book 1984? Granted, it is fictious, but it does make one wonder what someone would say if it means the end of their torture. I would probably admit to murder, treason, blasphemy, etc. if it meant the end to torture. We are just looking for someone, anyone, to blame even if it isn't the right person... this seems familiar to the reason why the Iraq war was started.

-curious115- It isn't only our lives that are endanger, Iraqis live in danger every day. The extremists have become liberated since the fall of Saddam, and wreak more havoc on civilians probably more so than the "Occupation." I agree what happened five years ago was a tremendous tragedy, but we are only making more 'terrorists' by being them ourselves.

Bush has so many countries hating us, and with the portable nuke weapons, our country is in a great deal of danger everyday. I mean our sons and daughters, parents and any other person in th US.
If he over rides Geneva Convention it does give us leverage for getting information. Unfortunately it's another step toward the annihilation of our Constitution. I don't know the answer to your question, nor do I know how that arrogant SOB got us in this mess.
I have been feeling that our government is the enemy at the gate.

If you're ashamed to be an American, then you are more than welcome to move to France.

It doesn't matter who our leader is, Men faught and died for our freedom! This is the most blessed nation on earth. Many would give their right arm to live here.

With more and more people thinking like you do.... it's a wonder how we are still a nation at all.

Man bear pig -- If you were tied up and forced to listen to Boy George you'd be spilling your guts in five minutes.

I don't know what the deal is, but I agree with you. Personally, if I really believed in such a thing, I'd call him the Anti Christ. He scares the crap out of me.
