For example, they praise the USA by saying that in the USA they have the freedom to criticise their own country. Well, so do citizens in most of the world! Comparing the USA against Chile or N Korea is not saying much.

And they also bang on about how wealthy the USA is. Most US citizens earn terrible wages by European or Australian standards. But by, say, Iranian standards the USA standard of living is good. But what kind of comparison is that?

And they bang on about Freedom. The USA has one of the worst human rights records in the world, and the highest prison population in the world. Is that Freedom? Seems a pretty twisted definition to me.

How about Democracy? Your political parties are virtually identical, and your system is structured so that it is virtually impossible, due to funding legislation, for an incumbent to be dislodged. By Cuban standards you have "democracy", but what kind of comparison is that?

So, are the Republicans on this site suffering from a mass psychosis?

Lol what a load if ignorant drivel most of the answers are. And there in lies your answer - because most Americans are so ignorant about the outside world. The long history of isolationism, combined with the most propaganda in the western world, means that the average american knows very little about the outside world, while being filled with rhetoric that America is better than everywhere else. Hence the desperate need in many right-wing types to compare America with the worst examples in other countries, to confirm the sweet propaganda they were filled with as kids.

We would all be happy to let them have it if they didn't try to cram their delusions down out throats too.

And for the poor bloke above - per head of population, Australia has done an INCREDIBLE amount for the world. Why don't you do some research?

They "bang on"? What the heck does that mean? But just so you understand, let me bang on you.....Don't know where you're from but my guess is it isn't my country (that would be America). We have the greatest country in the world, everyone knows that, it's common knowledge all over the world. If we don't have freedoms, human rights, wealth etc. then why on Earth does everyone want to come here? In our country you can be born to dirt poor parents but with determination and an education you can be anything you want. It is the land of opportunity. If we disagree with our government we can protest (peacefully) wherever we want. Without fear of retaliation. If you think our political parties are virtually identical you really should do more research or keep your mouth shut. I am Republican, I do not believe in abortion on demand, higher taxes to redistribute to the poor, bigger government, gay marriage etc as do the democrats. That is just a miniscule amount of the differences.
So how about you stay in whatever country you are in, I'm sure it's a perfect country, although it couldn't be a super power as we are the only one left.

Aside from what the major news networks would have you believe, most Americans make excellent job wages.

Yet, most Americans subscribe to cable and do not watch public "telly."

The networks' customers--viewers--are the poor people who can't afford cable.

This is what non-Americans see as "US TV."

You have to be an American to realize that NBC, ABC, and CBS is a joke to most Americans as well.

It is the same thing as saying, "Americans think all British TV is like Benny Hill or Monty Python's Flying Circus." You are being extremely stereotypical.

If Great Britain is so awesome, why does your Prime Minister, whoever he is, continue to be the lap dog of the American President?

If France is so awesome, why do they have unsuccessful curfews, high employment, and riots in the streets?

If Spain is so awesome, why did they vote to appease the terrorists? (Do they think that terrorists are not going to attack days before every major election from now on?)

What other country is "free" in this world that has not had an American soldier on its soil protecting that freedom at some time or another?

Image the magnitude and multitude of wars that would exist today if America did not keep global war in check.

I am not sure why you feel the need to single out American Republicans--you must be a Tory?

OK if you want to play it hard, we will play it hard. The UK, the government no longer lets their people bare arms. If you use anything as a weapon to defend yourself you will go to jail. The violent crime rates went up 300%. The same in Australia, no guns= high crime rates (who's going to obey the law? Not the criminal.). The EU, they are facing a take over by Muslims, a great deal of them are illegals. France was for the war before they were against it. Why? They were illegally selling weapons to Iraq, Russia too. In China the government is killing political prisoners and selling their organs on the black market. In Germany the economy has become stagnant because if you hire a person to work for you, you have to keep them on for ten years even if they can't or won't do their job. The liberal way granting health care to everyone gives the people high taxes. No other country can compare to the US at always finding a way to better ourselves and those that support us. In the US, the only limits you have on success is how hard are you willing to work to get it.

1) Good for the rest of the world. We can still be glad we can criticize our government can't we?
2) The costs of goods in those wealthy countries are much higher than in the U.S. so the gap between wages and the costs of living are about the same.
3) We just put forth the effort to catch our criminals and rehabilitate them. All I know is I am free to do what I want. If other Americans abuse that freedom and get put in jail, too bad for them.
4) I have to agree with you there.

Just out of curiosity, when disaster strikes somewhere in the world, who responds? When persecuted people want to emigrate from there country, who welcomes them? Who created this site so you could share your opinion? You guessed it, the U.S. We may have our problems, but I sure as hell wouldn't dream of living anywhere else.

GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.

To answer your question about criminals to ace. We catch them and document them so we report them. That means fewer out in the streets roaming free like wherever you come from.

Oh wait, you left the U.K. for Australia. How much has your new country done for the world. Criticize your own damn country please.

Since when does the USA live by European standards?
And I guess you want murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and every other monster on the streets.
And liberals wat a socialist country while conservatives want a Republic, which by the way we are suppposed to be!

With so many liberals and other undesirables working to destroy the country the US just doesn't perform at its best.

Excellent point. People in Brittain, Canada, Australia, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc, etc, etc, etc, are just as free as we are.

Yet often as not they disagree with our foreign policy.

Republicans, in general, care so little for anything non-American that they really havn't bothered to educate themselves about it.
