How do you think the scernario would play out if Iran, Al-Queda, or some other rouge radical Islamic State hit inside the US with a nuclear bomb? How would we respond? Do you think the EU, China, and Russia would ask us not to strike? Do you think the globalized finance and monetary system would be thrown into chaos? Just something to think about. - C

Retailiatory nuclear strike = probably. Also, it probably wouldn't be too selective is my guess.
Disastrous for the global finance systems, expect economic collapse for a while.

OK first of all we would know about any nuclear device either launched or imported long before it would ever have a chance a threatening
so I guess the thought of such a scenario would be poor attempt at instilling fear to a worst case example and the obvious out come is simple we would not give a crap how it plays out on the world platform we would Analise the radiation find out were it came from down to the time out of which cell of what reactor in the country it was produced and then we could track it then the last known point of rest would feel our wrath and then the world as everyone else see it would end and yes would identify the radiation for each cell in any reactor has a unique signature and all signatures are coded recorded verified and timed then tract shipped and documented of final resting point weather a reserve or in a warhead in some silo somewhere so this should end the thought

I think if it was another country such as Iran we would retaleate in kind and other countries probably would not say anything. If however it was from an Al-Queda type organization there may be some protest due to the super destructive power of such a device on inocent people who happen to live near these folks. You'd be on a rock in a hard place.
Depending on where they hit it could cuase a huge disruption to our global economy. That is why we need to decentral business operations so we can keep moving if such a thing occurs.

I hope it never happens

If Iran or Al-qaeda, or any terrorist group hit the US with a nuclear weapon, I do not think we would respond with nuclear weapons. We would however use conventional weapons to send whoever bombed us back to the middle ages...It would make Iraq's "Shock and Awe," look like a rock fight!!

I wish I would have saved that 'red dawn' conversation on imdb - talking about how it was impossible for world war III to happen inside the U.S. Yeah, it seemed like they knew what they were talking about when they were dissing 'red dawn' but still, it's not 'impossible'.

If we could identify the source of a nuclear attack against the US, it would get nuked in retaliation.

Even if we couldn't identify the source, there's still good odds the US would nuke someone, just the placate the masses.
