I love taking my daughter for walks and just picking flowers. Sounds kind of Hippie, but we take the flowers home, put them between wax paper, iron it, then put them on the window. My daughter loves doing it.

Do things that are active. 4 year old's have lots of energy! Take her to the park, swimming, even a McDonald's that has an indoor playground. I am sure there are some of those hands on museums designed for children, in CA. Kids just want to spend time with their parents. When you are out of ideas, ask her what she wants to do. She might just want to stay home and color with you.

oh that is such a fun age!! there are a ton of things you guys can do. the library is a fun outing... the nature center at the nearby park... the mall.... we have a invention museum and a kid's museum here (in the midwest) maybe you can check out something like that.
even just playing with her in her room. you could set up a tent with blankets, and have a pretend campout in her room with flashlights and stuff- even if it's middle of the day)

Go for a walk on a walking trail. Most of them have beautiful flowers and plants along the way and even streams and things like that. You could stop half-way and have lunch. Also she could learn alot about nature. Just a fun idea :-)

Try to find a local museum that offers children's programs. I know that Riverside had one when I lived there. We also went tubing a few times in Big Bear Lake. Lake Arrowhead makes a fun day. There's so much to do in Cali - I miss it!!!!

You could take her to the park, or shopping, you could rent a movie and you two have a slumber party. Take her to a restaurant that has a playground. Go to a museum. Go on a road trip. You could also go on a train ride. Or go ride a subway and have lunch. I like to take my kids to a movie.

take her back to the zoo, and letherdecide where she wants to go there. My grandsons 5 & 6 always head to certain areas first. they especially like the primates, elephants, giraffes, lions, and hippos. they like the hippos, because one seem to deficate each time we are there.( they are boys after all!)
