This "outrage" over the popes quoting of an Islamic historical figure is interesting to me. Most of the worlds biggest problems are radical extremists of Islam. Where is the outrage of the Islamic people against those who behead their opponents and eagerly kill innocent people just because they are of another faith. When is the world going to tell the Islamist to shape up and take care of their own back yard and stop worrying about everyone else for a change?

It is time for the Muslim world to tell the Islamists that THEY had better shape up. These kooks are not only killing "infidels," they are killing anybody who does not look, think, act or stink like they do. I cry for the Muslims who are getting caught in the middle by the terrorists. I PRAY for us ALL.

Yes it is time. Past time in fact. The Muslims don’t want we Christians to see the irony in Muslims being able to desecrate a Christian Temple in Jerusalem by spreading feces on images of Christ? But a Christian leader (the Pope) can’t remind people of what 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel Paleolous II said about the profit Mohammad several hundred years ago. It wasn’t even the Popes own words or thought. He was repeating what Paleolous II supposedly said. . What’s with the hypersensitivity anyway?

The Muslims can dance in the streets; shout and yell; raise their fists all they want to but I do not believe the Pope owes Muslims an apology for anything.

Some have contended the terrorists are a form of radical Islam and a small minority of the faith. They say the large majority of Muslims are a peaceful people. I am beginning to wonder about these claims when I see the reported millions in the streets protesting what the Pope repeated.

Two faced or what? Is Islam a peaceful religion or a violence based religion? By what I am seeing and hearing, I would have to conclude the latter. I tend to believe more of what I see than what I hear.

Have you seen the quote? If "Jesus" was substituted for "Muhammad" would you accept it as fair criticism?

It's a quote from a debate about Islam, circa 1300. The author is a Christian emperor:

'Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'

You may say that Jesus did not advocate spreading the faith by the sword, but what went on during the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of the Moors, and the Spanish conquest of the Indians of Mesoamerica? These events and others were within a few hundred years of the statement quoted by the pope, and reflect the Christian mentality of the era. The Pope's statement clearly reflects his upbringing as a Hitler Youth, who was taught that extermination of another religion and ethnic group was a virtue.

Its only OK for them to kill but no one else, so all other people are suppose to think of them as the poor little Islamics. I would refer them to out of control children. But we as Americans are the terrorist or that is what other crazy Americans think. Go ahead yell, scream ,hit your walls because most of us will not stand by and be taken over by the radical Islamic world. We are the reason that you have freedom of speech to protect these crazy people. Maybe all the nuts need to be in one can. And another thing we don't care what the extremist think, maybe those nuts can cut their heads off while they hand these people a lollipop!

I have been saying it for a long time...
Because they sit there in unified silence and never speak out against the atrocities of their extremists. Perhaps it is because they all share the same views. Perhaps they are all extremists, just in different degrees. They ask the world to understand their grievances, while their people kill innocents. Clean your house first, before you come to the world with your hand out, looking for sympathy. No, contacts and informants in the muslim world won't help. This is a muslim problem. The muslims are the only ones who can stop it. If they don't, it means they support it and we've seen all kinds of evidence that they do, whether they admit it openly or not. They glorify suicide murders! They have parades and memorials in honor of teens who blew themselves up to kill Israelis or Maronites or Americans or whoever the infidel do jour is. Not all muslims are bad, but enough are to really really matter. After 9/11 an extensive poll was taken throughout the muslim world (where allowed.) 15% openly supported OBL and said the US had it coming and they hope there's more. 69% said that, while regrettable, it's the US's own fault for supporting Israel, EVEN THOUGH at the time, Israel wasn't even mentioned by OBL, and most of these people have never met an Israeli in their lives. So 74% of the muslim world wants Israel gone and wouldn't be too sad if we were gone too. If the poll is representative, then out of 1.3 Billion muslims in the world, there are over 700 Million who want Israel gone and who wish us ill. Furthermore, A 2004 estimate by the intelligence unit of French police found that about 150 of the country's indexed 1,600 mosques and prayer halls were under the control of extremist elements.

A study of 1,160 recent French converts to Islam found that 23% identified themselves as Salafists — a sect sometimes associated with violent extremism.

In the Netherlands, the Dutch intelligence service says it believes as many as 20 different hard-line Islamic groups may be operating in the country.
In London, authorities say that as many as 3,000 veterans of al-Qaeda training camps over the years were born or based in Britain. Not all muslims are bad, but as far as I'm concerned, enough of them are, therefore I don't feel bad about generalizing or profiling in this case.

So here are a few suggestions. If Muslims don't want Islam to be perceived as encouraging violence, they should:
1. Stop committing violent acts.
2. Stop justifying those violent acts by reference to the Qur'an and Sunnah.
3. Stop saying violent or hateful things in private when you think no non-Muslims are around.
4. Begin comprehensive international programs in mosques all over the world to teach against the ideas of violent jihad and Islamic supremacism.
5. Actively work with Western law enforcement officials to identify and apprehend jihadists within Western Muslim communities.

Do these five things, and you'll find, voila, that perceptions of Islam will begin miraculously to improve.

You may not tell us what garbage and ignorance are spewing around the world. Everybody who can read knows the difference between a genuine divine peaceful Message of Islam, which has never been corrupted and still in it's purest of forms since it was revealed, and of the so called Bible-a pervert man made nonsense.

the most horrific terrorist and genocidal violence against humanity has been and will continue to be a trade mark of the so called Christians of the West and Jews.

The evidence is not only to be seen on TV as your filthy politicians had it, but it is to be felt and seen around the world and throughout history. I wouldn't need to brought you to a court of justice to condemn you to what you deserve, because there is not enough harsher measures in this world that suits you. Only the hell-fire is what you are created for.

well that will do the trick wont it- hey you osama and your following of murdering terrorists 'shape up'.
all of a sudden 'doh' says the fanatics what have we been doing. we are so sorry.
there are extremists on all sides and we are in a situation going from bad to worse. i dont see any quick solution- we had the irish troubles for decades and this is on a diffreent scale.
parts of the middle east with their existing levels of violence are breeding grounds for a whole army of terrorists prepared to die for their cause.
only months ago there was pandemonium because of cartoons insulting a faith. to us in the west its free press- to others its an insult worth killing for.
god help us- theirs, ours, anyones.

I agree Muslim must shape up. They should be able to spread the truth that 9/11 is an Israeli act and Islam has nothing to do with such cowardice attacks on civilians. They must act effeciently and effectively as the Christian boys and girls had become the slaves of the Zionists to the extent that they are getting heroin from Afghanistan and it is Zionists who are making big bucks. Muslims are over 1 billion and if they really get active they can cut the lies into pieces.

This is to the person who said most of the wars in the last 500 years was started by Chritians. You need a history lesson. One that I dont have time for now. But, in short you have made your reply out of ingnorance. It is safe to say that a Christian nation has been in most of the wars in the last 500 years but most nations are Christian.

Maybe to you it's ok to insult your religion but we actually care about ours and care what people have to say. Why don't you shape up and look at history and see how Christianity was and where it is now then tell Muslims to shape up.
