I guess you would technically say half sister but she is your sister none-the-less so what does it matter. Family is family and even though you have different fathers you still came from the same womb makeing you blood related- that is all that matters. I have a half sister and two half brothers but at a very young age my parents taught us that there would be no half or 1/4 or 3/5- family is family and that is what we were, end of questions. Who ever could not understand that then tell them they could kiss our asses and go to hell for the day!!!
and to one girl above- how do you have "1/2 of a different father?"

Simple. Only children from the same father and mother are full-blooded. She is your half-sister since you do not have the same father, The genes are different, but in matters of the heart, she is still your sister no matter how you put it. You should love and respect her, and if younger than you, take care and guide her. You would do as any other regular family should do. If there is animosity between you, you should try to erase any differences. Give her positive signals and forget any jealosy. Your parents all love you equally.

what a bizarre question. I love it.
If you need to label her this way, she is technically your "half" sister because you share only the same mother. Takes two to tango and your mom danced with two different partners (at least). You were the result of one dance and your sister... half sister... the result of another. Likewise, if your father had children with a different women, they would be your half brothers and sisters.
Step-siblings are only if they had completely different mother and father. For example, if your father marries someone who already had kids from a different relationship, those kids would be your step-brothers and sisters.

She is concidered your half sister. Why you ask because she has only half of the blood that you do. She and your mother and you share your mothers genes but you differ in your fathers genes...that is why she is your half sister.

Half sister. Father and mother each supply half of the DNA that creates the child, so you and this woman/girl have half of the same DNA... hence the term 'half-sister'.

You answered your own question. She's your half sister (biologically) because she has a different father. There is nothing wrong with just considering her your sister though! Sister sounds much more intimate and bonding.
