An SAS soldier has refused to fight in Iraq and has left the Army over the "illegal" tactics of United States troops and the policies of coalition forces.

After three months in Baghdad, Ben Griffin told his commander that he was no longer prepared to fight alongside American forces.

He said he had witnessed "dozens of illegal acts" by US troops, claiming they viewed all Iraqis as "untermenschen" - the Nazi term for races regarded as sub-human.

I'm sure you've all heard of the elite SAS (Special Air Service), they are not only the best, but the most feared special forces in the world. All special forces around the world have either been based on the SAS i.e. U.S. Delta or learn from their examples.

Oh! So this highly elite SAS soldier is now a liar? and all that rigorous, life threatening traning, that one has to go through to even be selected was all done for nothing?

You people make me laugh!

He had an eight year career in best fighting force in the world, the SAS( I, as a honest American, can admit they are the best) that he was not imprisoned. But remember it is also because of this that such a highly trained person would feel this way working with the US's back-up force the national guard.

So this member of the SAS group turns up to be a sissy and he is blaming the American soldiers for this. Just like the doctor also inthe story who doesn't like war. This is the first time I have heard the term untermenschen, so I suspect that what you have is a liberal who is looking for a scapegoat. In this case the US. Our media would have picked up on this in a second if it was true, so I believe this is just a pack of lies made up by a soldier who wanted to go home. This does not reflect on the group at all, it only reflects on the soldier. And this will come out in his trial.

One quote from a foreigner doesn't prove let alone suggest that the American Military views Iraqi's as sub human. Using your lack of logic once could then suggest that the Brits view the Irish as sub human.

Actually that is unfair, you are referring to United Statesian soldiers not American soldiers, you see the later includes soldiers from Brazil, Chile and all American nations.

Now as for the United Statesian soldiers, I believe that this one British soldier is using a VERY cheap cop-out.

this stupid cop-out just proves one thing: SAS guys can be wankers, just as good ole skippy calls em. (see skippy's list on google). Second, any media source that includes blogs as a section of their news is too mentally deficient for me to waste time reading. third, the bloody SAS boy should be put on trial for his insubordination. if HIS orders are legal orders, he's responsible to follow them REGARDLESS of his opinion of other people. if this is the way the whole SAS is allowed to behave, they're ALL deficient. I would expect more of the SAS, what a pity.

So, one Brit SOSer doesn't like yanks or this war. What does that prove? For all we can tell, he is lying - I don't see anything proven here, just his unsupported accusations as the basis for him running away from the fight.

If I found 2 SOSers who completely contradicted this guy, does it make their view twice as true?

Or do you so fervently wish this to be true because it agrees with your perception of reality that you wouldn't consider that he might be lying?
