The New Jersey governor got into trouble because of accusations of bribery and placing a clearly unqualified person in the state homeland security post. But when the fires got hot, he made his speech about being "a gay American" and resigned, making it seem to some not following the story that his sexuality forced him from office.

I am not gay, or a gay-basher. And I'm sure he had struggles I can't imagine because of his private life. But it just seems to me that he conveniently wrapped himself in the "tortured and persecuted" flag of the gay rights movement to deflect attention from his ethical troubles. I could be 100% wrong, but I don't think absent the ethics questions he would have had to resign.

I am not coming at this as a Republican or Democrat. He's not running for anything. But please let me know if I'm missing something. Because I think he's falsely claiming to be a "gay martyr." If I were gay I might be a little angry.

As a lifelong New Jerseyite, I agree with your analysis 100%. Under Jim McGreevey, New Jersey government became a laughingstock of corruption, dishonesty, and unethical behavior. The laundry list of sins is too long to document here. NJ is one of the most expensive states to live in in the country, and now taxes will be going up again thanks to the McGreevey catastrophe. And yet he is a "victim" because he is gay? No Mr McGreevey the only victims are the citizens of the great state of NJ whose trust you abused time and time again.

PS I'm a heterosexual who just hated your policies.

You're 100% correct that he used his homosexuality to deflect issues from his corruption. The bottom line is that it's good for NJ that this guy is out of office and it is beyond comprehension why people from NJ continue to vote corrupt Democratic politicians into office. Already the new Governor had a key resignation after appointing an unqualified and corrupt person to office as political payback.

I don’t have any trouble with someone being a cock sucking ‘ho if it makes them happy. Just tell the voters you’re a cock sucking ‘ho and let them decide. Yikes Jim, it’s called democracy.

It’s not sex that puts McGreevey on my sleaze **** list, it’s the lying and utter disregard for ANYONE other than himself. Remember Golan Cipel, the nice Israeli boy McGreevey used his love tool on regularly until Cipel threaten him with a sexual harassment suit? Don’t forget that McGreevy had hired Cipel as his homeland security advisor even though Cipel had no credentials and was unqualified for a security clearance.

Keep it zipped up you selfish, lying prick (that goes for you too Bill Clinton)!

Yes he is running from the truth, trying to make himself a victim. I have nothing against gays, but I do not like phonies like Mc Greevy!

No one should get any rights for something so private or be denied rights for something so private. It is nobodies bussiness in the first place so why is it an issue?
